Car tyre puncture fluids

Hi Folks

I hope you're well. I own a Seat Ibiza 2008 model.

Can someone kindly recommend tyre puncture fluid or does it depend on the car make/model or size of the tyre?

They are all the same. Because they will ruin your wheel, especially if you have alloys, and tyre if you use any of them I cannot recommend any. They are only any good for the smallest of punctures. They will never seal even a medium size rip. Get a spare , if your car cannot accommodate a spare tyre get a new car.

Reminds me of a wait I had in a Kwik Fit a year or so ago.

Guy comes in with a punctured tyre, seeing if it can be repaired.
Technician tests it, but reports that he can't find said puncture.
"Well: I did squirt that repair gunk into it, to get me home", said the punter.

To which the technician shook his head, and asked him how he expected him to find the puncture then.....

I agree total waste of time. Carry a spare if your car can not fit a spare replace car

Buy a Tyre worm kit, it consist of sticky "leather" like strips, a brad tool and some glue. you basically insert the strip twist and pull out and the tool leaves a sticky bobble on the inside that seals the hole. No sticky mess on your wheel and the tyre can then be properly plugged later.

Poor Geek. He desparately needs reassurance. I wouldn't attempt a DIY puncture repair or have a car without a spare wheel. My current car only has a spacesaver and I'm not 100% happy about that.

And then launch a ton vehicle down the roads at 70mph with your family in....reliant on a leather "poked in strip" what could possibly go wrong!

squirting green crap into a car tyre to repair a puncture is such a dumb concept.I would not do it or trust it on my bicycle never mind a car

Just to answer the original question (if I dare ) there's a product called Goop that works very well. I use it in quad bike and ride on mower tyres as a matter of course and I would use it as an emergency get me home. I don't know if it damages the tyre or whether it just makes things unpleasant for the tyre fitter. I suspect the latter. I carry a puncture repair outfit always and have practiced with it at home. My car has no provision for any type of spare wheel.

I’ve used a product called 'Slime' in two of my mates motorcycle tyres. On both occasions it got them home from the South of France without even needing to re-inflate the tyre once added. It is water based so can be washed out of the tyre with cold water before repair. I also carried the string kit but have never used it yet. Both of those methods are temporary, get-you-home fixes only.
