if "fixing" it was a paid job then nothing to be done but strip and re-do.

there could be a slight hump at the join?
 
The guys done it himself.
A competent diyer and google would have done better.

Probably!! apparently the back is even worse but i'd already seen enough to bother getting the catladders and climb over and take a look.
 
Wise to keep off those crup slates.
The fact is the join to your neighbours is poorly executed. That in turn has caused the leak.

A join could have been made nicely even to the random slate
 
Also looks like a wet ridge, which wouldn't meet building control now. (I know, I buy a new roof and suddenly I know what I'm talking about)
