Except it isn't their homeland & never has been. It was somebody else's before they stole it. According to their own beliefs Israel cannot exist until Christ returns to earth, well if he's back he seems to be keeping a pretty low profile. We also know that God doesn't exist, so we can deduce that nobody ever promised them a homeland either.

It took longer for the Americans to admit they'd shot down Flight 655...
And the apologies have come quickly too...
America took 8 years to 'recognise the aerial incident', but never admitted legal liability and has never formally apologised!
Makes you wonder about civilised and uncivilised behaviour...

Modern air defence systems are very sophisticated bits of kit and those operating them would have to be highly trained.
Probably some of those operating these systems are not up to the standard required.
Having said that, this tragedy was bound to happen sooner or later.
The nuclear deal between the west and Iran was designed to bring Iran in from the cold and support moderate elements in the regime.
The deal appeared to be working and the Iranians were delivering on their side of the bargain.
Along comes Trump who decides to tear up the deal to appease the Israel lobby and spite Obama.
Now we are in the position that there could be all out war in the middle east.
