Frame fixing screws

Im painting the frame anyway so the plugs will be painted or stained with it, ok I can use both, really stupid question now, the frame opening is ready apart from lintel which is going on soon, can I fit the frame now after lintel attached which is a stone lintel, is there a rule or do I wait for the roof on first? just want frame out of way thats all.

Top ones in my opinion are better for a wooden frame. But either will ultimately work

only use foam for sides of frame to seal then use frame sealant on outside. Bed of mortar for bottom sill.

great, head you mean roof, so 3 screws either side and 2 on top, none bottom sill just mortar?

Head=lintel+roof.
There's no standard for fixing frames, you put screws where they're needed.
Sometimes you get a naughty corner that needs a bit of persuasion in staying levelled so one more fixing is required.
In an ideal world 3 per sides and 2 for top are ok.
For bottom, if you have a wooden sill, i would suggest fixing with screws and use spacers to level, then a squirt of foam to act as insulation.
Mortar bed is prone to getting damp and damage the wood with time.

What length screw for a 2 inch timber then into stone? 120mm?

Spray foam after the whole frame is fixed and you're happy with the level.

Guys one more thing what screw is better the 120mm or 160mm? thru timber in pic about 2 inch thick then into the stone?
