Apple and Parler

Yes I read that earlier, interesting. Traditionally those sites have defended themselves against allowing al Qaida executions and Lord knows what by claiming to be simply a 'platform' but the action against Trump has changed that, legislation will follow.
Might not be a bad thing, but another nail in the coffin of free speach.

We are seeing a left-wing coup in America and the takeover of all American institutions. It has already happened here, in that now we can only ever choose from two parties, both of which are of the left - the conservatives having been infiltrated.

Clearly, there is a case for clear unlawful stuff to be banned.

The problem is when a ban is politically motivated, as in Trump's case. I don't actually care for Trump as a person, although I agreed with some of his efforts, but it is clear to me that he was not liked by the owners of those platforms and so his voice was stifled.

As for conspiracies, it seems that the moon landings were false, and Elvis is still with us and those conspiracies are still being discussed. I can't see why people discussing them are not banned and hounded.

The only way to dispel lies and wrong beliefs is to discuss them not prevent their discussion. People must be allowed to make up their own minds. But we are in the age of WOKE and cancel culture, where the left wing wont entertain any discussion or belief unless it matches theirs. And we have seen too many times where a single "truth" and stifled public leads.

It would be a sad day when I can't tell notch to "move on" or JD to stop talking crap.

4 out of 5 of those who died on Capitol hill were protesters.
When similar types of protests take place in other countries the media and the government are very quick to call for regime change.
Who remembers Ukraine when politicians representing the American and EU governments were openly inciting mobs to overthrow a democratically elected government.
Whats goes round comes round.

You make a valid point. No one will take America seriously now, when they start pointing the finger at the breakdown of other fledgling (or otherwise) democracies, they have helped to nurture or interfere with.

What Trump has done is very, VERY bad for the USA.

No because lies spread faster than the truth can catch up.

Right wing populism of Trump, Johnson etc use it to their advantage.

Sooey is a good example of allowing conspiracies to fester on SM

It's not politically motivated.

It's anti violence motivated

I would usually agree with this, however, when they refuse to remove
Iran’s Khamenei account after call for genocide it does call into question their motives.

Parler is down, they should have had more effective moderation in place.
