Hi I have a hall that is 2910 long x 970 wide and I would like to fit 3x 35mm led down lights, so what spacing would you recommend?
Atm I am going with 727mm
727-x-727-x-727-x-727, but also had 970mm
970-x-970-x-970-x-970 ?
Thanks

The standard spacing I generally use is 600mm from each wall and then every 1200mm in between

I may be wrong but is it not normal to have the end lights closer to the end walls
For example a 3000mm long room.
3000 divided by the amount of lights (3) =1000mm
Therefore for 3 lights, 500mm from each end, and the third in the centre of the other 2 (1000mm from each)
subject to what is above ceiling.

So for my sizes you would say 485mm from each end and one in the centre which would cast a 2m spread of light

My spacings were more for aespahatics, draw it out on paper, to a smaller scale with a 500mm radius around each light and you see the difference.
Even stick some temporary Dots on the ceiling to decide what you like.
I note RF also suggests similar spacing.
As for the spread of light i quess it would depend on choice of fitting and amount, maybe 3 may be inadequate, either way, i think any choice of lights spaced how you initially proposed may cause slightly darker spots at the two ends,
Obviously go with your heart and do what you feel looks best for your situation, there are no set in stone rules really and could well be dictated by where the floor joists clash.

Thanks I have a spare downlight I can use I just thought 4 would be too much

Well made a right mess of that, started marking ceiling as advised and I was well out my length is actually 3440 long, so apologies to all
