I’m restarting a home renovation project that I stopped 4 years ago. I have hard wired 8 core CQR intruder alarm cable all over my house (is this cable any good?) and was thinking of going for a Texexom Premier Elite (that I knew about 5 years ago). But back then their internet connected device was in its infancy.

can anyone with experience in this area pls advise whether I should still consider Texexom if other brands have now overtaken this. I’m not looking for the cheapest product on the market, only something that is secure, stable and offers some good secure remote access and possible integration into my wireless smart system (one way control relay outputs).
Thx.

There are lots of options out there.

best to have a list of what you want it to do and find a system you can buy that best fits your needs.

Can you please run me through some of the new developments in alarm capabilities worth considering. Is Texexom still good?

I’m just looking for some inspirational food for thought when considering an alarm.

If you were thinking about a Texecom Premier Elite 5 years ago then that system has not got any worse over the last 5 years. The internet connection and app has improved a bit over the last 5 years as their SmartCom system is more reliable that the ComIP and old ComWifi (which is now obsolete). The app works ok for most people but you might have a problem if you leave it much longer as the new app needs an installer account which is not available to home users and there is no way for a home user to set up the new V2 app once Texecom remove the old V1 app from the app stores (they are planning to do this very soon).

Texecom has gone down the pan in the last few years with a habit of releasing new updates that have not been fully tested ….

Honeywell Galaxy. At least there's still free apps and reporting. There's also my Selfmon platform as an alternative option for automated alarm receiving, ensuring that you aren't locked into the manufacturers solution.

There are other decent manufacturers, but not selling to the public.
