Reminds me of the countries - very many of them, where all the scaffolding and ladders are made of bamboo.
One of my early gaffs was rather tall. For the gable I had a hired tower, with a triple extension ladder standing on it.
Lots of ropes, though. Pretty tame compared with 2 dozen and more floors of bamboo ...
Watched Hong Kong sprouting sky scrapers using only bamboo scaffolding in the 70’s & 89’s. Coolies clambering up the poles to lash the next one on. Mind boggling.
Used to live in Hong Kong and yes, the bamboo scaffolding is amazing. But they do use cross bracing. One tie, in the industrial building where I worked, it was necessary to do some repairs between an adjacent building, about the 14th floor. What do they do? Cut some bamboo around one foot longer than the gap and wedge it in place until they have a wedged platform on which to work.
