Proper deterrents are needed.
The risk of death doesn't seem to work. Physically stopping them is nigh on impossible, given the fact they are already at sea and in UK waters before we can do anything. We can't blockade French shores. The smugglers are too numerous, savvy and shifty.

Stop the wars?

for the avoidance of doubt:

At 0106, MRCC Dover called MRCC Gris-Nez to discuss the French tracker information recorded for incident Bravo. MRCC Gris-Nez provided a position in French waters for Bravo and confirmed that there were no French assets with the boat but that it appeared to be in good condition. MRCC Dover recorded the updated position for Bravo and changed the incident phase from Distress to monitoring as the boat was not located in UK waters.

During the discussion about incident Bravo, MRCC Gris-Nez informed MRCC Dover about migrant 7, a boat that was not yet recorded in the French tracker. Migrant 7 had reported a position via WhatsApp that was 0.6nm outside UK territorial waters.

Lets not rescue them and hope they drift North, then they are the UK's problem.

£7.5M to find out that "Travelling on board a small, unseaworthy and crowded boat, and crossing one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world, is an inherently dangerous activity."

money well spent. - not.
I'd love/hate to see a breakdown of precisely where that £7.5M ended up. I'm assuming in the bank accounts of people who drive cars that are worth more than some people's houses.

Just imagine the huge amount of public good that could have been done with that money. They could have built about 75 houses - actual buildings that people could live in. It's all a big scam by those at the top of this stupid country.

I could totally understand it if they were lost off the coast of the UK and we had no Marine Accident Investigation Board.

Lawyers, I'm afraid. I remember that Boris Johnson alone billed £250,000 for his legal representation during the Partygate inquiry.

Yep. And Baroness Mone billed the UK government a couple of hundred million so that UK taxpayers could own some landfill and tat. Perhaps she could donate one of her yachts she bought with the profits.

Try reading beyond the first post you're shocked by before posting a load of irrelevant guff!

Not really sure what you mean

You said

"The London Economic" = lefty fiction.

to which I replied "Yes and no", or if you need it broken down further -

"The London Economic" = lefty.

Yes

"The London Economic" = fiction.

No.

You also asked:

Are there any figures available from a factual source?

So I showed you 5 factual sources.

I've not been shocked by any posts, and my reply didn't express any shock.

And linking to factual sources can't be "a load of irrelevant guff" when you've asked "Are there any figures available from a factual source?", can it.

we mostly rely on charities like RNLI to become illegal immigrant buses now instead. Hence i have stopped paying any money to these ******s, never getting another penny off me.

The RNLI is entirely a volunteer service, and their sailors put their lives at risk to save the lives of others.

When the call goes out, when the flare goes up, they don’t think about politics – all they think is that someone at sea is in distress, and they need their help.

A couple of comments from them:

Our volunteers get out of bed in the middle of the night, leave their employment, leave their families, and go out and do this because they believe in doing the right thing. Never doubt their commitment to that.

We do not judge those we rescue – where we believe there is a risk to life at sea, we will always launch in response to a call from HM Coastguard,

And sometimes when these volunteer crews get back to shore they are abused by people for providing a “bus service” for illegal immigrants.

Since their founding in 1824 they’ve saved 146,000 lives.

The memorial at Poole carries over 600 names of crew who have lost their lives saving others.

And you castigate them because you don't like the people they are saving.

The RNLI is entirely a volunteer service,

One of the highest paying employers in Poole, or they were last time I looked which admittedly was a long time ago. There are volunteer roles at the Poole headquarters but in the main they are salaried positions. The Coxswains on each boat are salaried positions and I believe engineers might also be salaried.
The volunteer crews, the people at the sharp end aren't paid other than expenses.

Dyou think that’s how budgeting works? Hand money over that’s not spent on an inquiry that isn’t planned?

I would have thought Sunseaker paid well in Poole?

The RNLI have lost their way. Not just over being an illegal migrant Taxi service but the whole woke politics that they forced onto the volunteers. Fortunately the new Exec have changed directions and their are many independent lifeboats to donate to.

£7.5m would have bought two top of the range lifeboats.
