Had a sparky out and he reckoned either the MCB or the pump in the shower was the fault

My thoughts as well, power showers and instant showers look very similar, but drawing 30+ amps or 3 amps is very different.Are you sure that shower actually has a pump?

Yes I've always had someone with me and I've made sure that anytime I'm touching anything it's all turned off at the mainsIs there someone else in the house who will notice that you've had an electric shock and will call an ambulance? (Serious question.)
