Has plug and play solar now been passed, I see adverts?

Registered office: Crick, Northampton, NN6 7SL so being sold by a British firm, see nothing in advert to say not yet passed, the data sheet says Schuko plug, it has the company name on data sheet, so thought better not to say what plumbing outlet are selling them. It says 6 in basket in last 24 hours, so it seems they are selling well?

This one

has a battery, so could be non grid connected, and the battery is about the same as what I have,

so not really a great bargain for me, and the grid tie is it seems for the through charge, it seems it does not supply energy into the grid.

There seems to be a problem with the phrase "Balcony solar", "Grid tie", and "Plug-in" as non means it feeds back into the grid, so maybe I have miss read the advert?

I did not put in a link, as not sure about legality if I said who the plumbing firm was, I did a Google hunt for "Plug in Solar" and got

for my first 6 hits. The third one was Argos which was it seemingly being completely legal, and the Amazon adds may not be UK, so hard to say if aimed for the UK. Hard to say even when price quoted in £ if UK or not.

But since you ask the advert I was looking at is here sure the sysops can get rid of it if not allowed.

Somehow I doubt that they are much use in the UK, I doubt the output is enough to run a house or give anything back to the grid and earn us some money.
I can sell you a crate of snake oil though, vary handy for squeeky snakes.

If you had enough of them with batteries it might be ok to run heating and fridge freezer perhaps during power cuts but probably cheaper and easier to buy a generator.

The suggested 800w, at best, would satisfy, my 100 to 300w base load, during the most of the day, if the sun was shining - and I would have surplus if not stored. Worthwhile, probably not.

Ah but for how many hours would you actually get 300+ watts? Not many I suspect

i really suspect with transmission losses and reduced efficiencies with the fact only a small part off the day gives near full effective harvesting with sun in an ideal position the year over average will be perhaps 10 to 15% so perhaps 115w an hour average or 2.2p an hour [at 20p a unit] on a 800w iff all production used so 53p a day or £192 a year saved

Since my 6 kW of panels face west, panels facing south likely do better, but I can read the years' performance.

So if 6 kW produces 6 MWh the 800 watt likely around 800 kWh per year. Money wise it depends on the rate, I expect most would be exported in my case so 800 x £0.12 = £96 per annum. If replacing electric at 25p/kWh then £200 per annum. So at £158.76 if not giving away for no payment it would pay back in 2 year, maybe within a year.

But as yet it is all guess work. Will people be paid for export?

It seems they are expecting that the law will have changed before 99 days have lapsed. I had not tried to pick up or get delivered, but now I have I see

so why people would order not sure

I would be waiting for the government to actually say if you are going to be paid for export, unless like me already have the second MPAN number.

I was aware of that, I was simply pointing out that they ought to be links, to save everyone having to search for them, so we know what Eric is on about. He suggested he was concerned about posting links, but everyone else posts actual links to items under discussion. No one objects, why would they? People do object, when the only reason to post a link, is to gain a bit of sneaky free advertising, which is in breach of this sites rules.

I still can't see how any plug and play kits can be marketed in the UK when we don't as yet know what standards they need to comply to? How will any company be able to ensure the kits will conform to the rules, and they will be changed within the 90 days?

I look at my own solar, and how my bill is near enough zero

not quite zero, but getting close with £0.88 monthly payments.

So if someone fits balcony solar, and they see £16 reduction in their monthly bill, then seems likely they will buy another kit. Sunny side of my home is all on the same ring final. So what happens if I plug in three x 800 watt systems? Even as it is, I have not tripped the 32 amp RCBO in the 4 years fitted, so in real terms overload is unlikely, but nevertheless, adding 10 amps does not seem prudent.

This morning the news says "

" Come on, make your mind up, one minute wanting more, next wanting less solar.

This must be considered daft. On a slag tip where nothing will grow, OK, but not on good land.
