A Layabout's Lament, Marty Wilde. First in a short series of songs about scroungers...

Cilla Black 'Work is a Four Letter Word'...Cilla singing to a workshy boyfriend.

This song is from a film of the same name, which I haven't seen, but it sounds great. The workshy boyfriend stays home all day taking magic mushrooms!

The Smiths covered this song also, unfortunately.

Daft song from about 1966 complaining about British workmanship. In the same vein as Bernard Cribbins's 'Right Said Fred'...

Wimple Winch were one of the greatest unknown groups of the sixties, they made some monstrously powerful singles.

The fabulous X Ray Spex and 'Identity', about the conforming effect of the mass media, a phenomenon that has increased dramatically over the years since 1978...

To anybody who has mentioned Marc Bolam/T Rex songs - What the heck are "Automatic Shoes"???
