Replacing old dimmer switch

Need to replace this 2gang 2way dimmer with a new one as this one broke. There’s also 2gang plain button switch for the same room, both button seem to switch the lights on/off.

As only one switch/dimmer on this unit worked before I bought 1gang 2way dimmer (Varilight vpro, to also use dimmable leds).
This is old wiring photo. I connected both reds to Live, both blues to L2 and both yellows to L1 on the new switch, left the earth as it was separately.

As a result of the dimmer switch change and bulbs swap to dimmable leds, the button switch works (both buttons), but the dimmer switch doesn’t dim or switch on/off. How can I correct the setup?

This is the photo of the old one.
There are only 3 connections on the new switch (standard 1 gang 2way) - ~, L1, L2. The new one has 2reds together going to ~, 2 blues to L2, 2 yellows to L1.
 
I only need one button really - why do I need a 2 gang switch? It should control all the 4 lights at once like the old one did (the second button before wasn’t doing anything).
Can I wire 1 gang switch to control all the lights in the room, and also so that normal bottom switch (at least one button) controls the lights on/off from the other side of the room?
 
I need 2 way because I have a switch for the same lights at the other side of the room, but I don’t need 2gang as I want to turn on/off all the lights at once, so I got 1gang 2way to replace the old broken dimmer.
Can anyone please point me how to correct the wiring? The original is on attached photo, the new one I tried like this:
I connected both reds together going to single ~ connection, both blues to single L2 connection, both yellows to single L1 connection.
 
Show the wiring at the other side.

you'd need to ditch one of the 3 cores and join the sw L and perm Lives together the other side....and swap the other 2 gang for a 1 gang.

Assuming all on the same circuit which it should be.
