2-way dimming switches

We intend to change our stairway lighting to LED bulbs and make them dimmable.

Am I right to assume that here can be only one dimmer switch in the 2-way circuit? Or do I need to put dimmer switch at both ends?

And will an LED dimmer switch also be able to be used with ordinary/energy saving dimmable bulbs?

Look up Master and Slave dimmer switches. They will allow you to dim at both ends.

Dimming the lights on a stairway?.....hmmm....

If you want to dim from both locations you will need an IR master dimmer used in conjunction with a slave.

A good quality LED dimmer can be used with other forms of dimmable lighting.
