Fans slowly loose they advantage as the temperature climbs to 36°C and make the situation worse after that point.
So today living room at 24°C with the AC running, and from the amount of condensate I have poured down the drain, also a lot drier.
The flat is built into the side of the hill we live on in Wales, so that has remained at 21°C my bedroom however, normally cooler than the living room is at 28°C. So AC or not does depend on windows and their direction, our patio doors do not help.
So the AC uses 755 watts, and will just about keep the 24 x 18 room with 2 windows and a patio door at a liveable temperature, I would not call 24°C cool. But without it looking at 30°C.
The AC exhaust goes up the chimney, so no windows open with a pipe out of it, and the door propped slightly for the cats.
Main downside, today emptied the gallon cider bottle 4 times with the condensate it has collected. If we needed it for more than 3 weeks a year, may look at an installed unit. But don't need it for most of the year.
This shows the use, just before 8 am AC turned on, to start with running on battery, by 9:30 am the solar was powering it, but was 11:30 am before the battery was fully recharged, so then the domestic hot water started using solar it was 12 an hour before noon (we are in British summer-time) before that too was satisfied, from than exporting at this moment 3.5 kW being exported, my array is 6 kW with a 5 kW inverter.
So about on the 5 kW limit. It is costing me, loss of revenue at 12p/kWh so 9p an hour, so may not be efficient, but at 9p an hour, I am willing to pay that. If it keeps being so hot, then out with the SDS drill and a hole in the wall for the condensate.
We find if we wait until the day has warmed up, it does not really cool the room enough, so we have to switch on early.
The use of chimney means no windows open, but if we go out, has to be switched off, due to condensate, but can turn on with smart socket adaptor before returning home.
Now I think year 4 or 5, when we got it, under £100 likely before Brexit and came from Lidi. If it failed we would replace it.
