Someday this War's gonna End

IN a somewhat surprising statement Hamas and other Palestinian factions have agreed to a document setting out a plan for their disarmament in Gaza, in what United States President Donald Trump has called “a monumental step” towards peace and security.

Al Jazeera has received a copy of Thursday’s agreement, which stipulates that the precise disarmament roadmap must be prepared within 14 days, with possible extensions subject to the approval of an international verification body, and the agreement of all parties.

However, Hamad said that Hamas would not implement any part of the agreement if Israeli forces failed to fulfil their obligations. The official said disarmament depended on Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza and progress on reconstruction in the Palestinian territory.

There has been no comment yet from Israel.

Why Hamas would choose this moment to disarm is strange: only three months before the Israeli election and the mid-term elections in America when Netanyahu could well lose his job and trump lose his political clout on t'Hill seems a strange time for Hamas to chuck in the towel after years of bloodshed. We'll see.

Until a deal involving the end of violent attacks by Israeli settlers is signed, sealed and delivered i don't see how long any peace deal could last.

Israel can't be trusted as they have broken agreements before.

Disarming Hamas would just allow Netanyahu or should we use his original family name- Mileikowsky, to carry on even more strongly to capture more land.

These Europeans masquerading as Jews has fooled the world. The only ones with true semite bloodline are the Palestinians.

Nutter.

How many times has this been said. It is like a broken record.

Israeli settlers have laid siege to three Palestinian households since Sunday (8th), have even led to a rare condemnation of settler behaviour by the Israeli government, with spokesperson David Mercer calling the settlers’ actions “deplorable” and “unacceptable”, and promising that Israeli authorities would investigate and arrest those responsible.

Analysts, campaigners, and Israeli parliamentarians who spoke to Al Jazeera have reacted to that with disbelief and incredulity, pointing to the inability of the Israeli military to stop the siege, in which the settlers have cut off water and electricity to Qusra. Israeli soldiers were initially even seen mingling and even praying with settlers in Qusra.

The speed and brutality of the Israeli government’s encroachment upon Palestinian land, in defiance of both international law and the ruling of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) that it should stop its illegal settlement of Palestinian territory, has increased in recent months.

They've already violated the core principle of their own Constitution:

THE STATE OF ISRAEL will be open for Jewish immigration and for the Ingathering of the Exiles; it will foster the development of the country for the benefit of all its inhabitants; it will be based on freedom, justice and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel; it will ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex; it will guarantee freedom of religion, conscience, language, education and culture; it will safeguard the Holy Places of all religions; and it will be faithful to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.

This is what they mean by 'Eretz-Israel'.
