Does anyone know if there are any cheaper third party devices compatible with the Texecom flasher interface? Or has some clever clogs come up with a way to upgrade the firmware without the flasher?

My Premier Elite is still on firmware version 2.10 so desperately needs upgrading but every time I look to buy the flasher kit I'm put off by the cost of it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not some scrooge that just doesn't want to spend any money maintaining my system, it's just that I can't yet justify spending in the region of £40 - £50 for flasher kit which I will only use once.

Any suggestions on alternatives, gratefully received.

Check out eBay I’ve seen flashers for around £20 before or see if anybody local can flash it for you …. Depending where you live

I may or may not have a spare would have to check, could hire it out I suppose with a deposit as they arent cheap for what they are some folk have had mixed success with the cheap ebay ones.

Any particular reasons you have for wanting to upgrade the firmware?, if it's working and all that ;)

Can’t use a smart computer in a V2 other than that can’t see there being too much benefit, a few new options but nowt to shout about and after you get to V5 you can flas on the cloud. But if it’s a 48W then the built in wireless will be limited to the version of that expander…..

I do keep my eye out on Ebay, but not seen a kit going quite that cheap, although there are a couple of listings not much more expensive which are always showing as out of stock.

I live just about as far South East as you can get so probably too far out in the sticks to find anyone local.

Oh that would be marvellous if you did have a spare you would consider hiring out. Obviously more than happy to pay a deposit and of course hire fee and postage

Yes, but it's a sore point - it works perfectly and does exactly what I need it to but then after one of the iPhone iOS updates the Texecom app became unusable due to a TLS error. I was in contact with Texecom support for over a year who kept saying a fix was coming then decided to retire the apps as legacy. So I am now unable to get notifications, or remote control etc which I really need as often work abroad for several days in the week.

I already run a Home Assistant server with just about every smart device I own integrated along with my solar & battery and CCTV system so my plan is as I already have the ComIP module to update the firmware and integrate the system in to my HA and control it from there so I don't have to worry about Texecom apps.
