could i just isolate the pipe?? i can see where it enters under the floor in the garage as the house is on a slope. i could cut the pipe and fit an isolation valve so i can isolate the pipe but it can still be reinstated if needs be. would that be something i can do or would i need a...

thing is i dont want to loose the pipe completely. just in case the next owner wants to put a gas fire in. laminate is not down yet but dont really fancy digging up a concrete floor to get to it. any other suggestions?? many thanks :)

hi i have had the gas fire removed and the pipe capped. I want to fit new skirting board as well as a laminate floor and so the skirting will cover up the pipe in the wall. do i need to mark it with anything or make any special preperations before doing it or can i just put skirting over...

thats what i want. i cant change the sockets now cos the missus likes the polished chrome ones we have got now and it wil be more of a headache to convince her to change them for ones easier to wire than it ever would be to extend the cables!!!! sparkyspike - i will do mate. cheers :)

sorry didnt see that last post of yours. i dont do domestic stuff at work, just crimps for temporarily joining cables, just wanted to check and make sure they were ok to use in domestic wiring a a permenant connection. i know its basic stuff but want to get it right. :roll:

not wanting to put 3 wires in each one, just 2 neutrals into one, 2 lives into one and 2 earth conductors into one so 3 crimps in total.

will the crimps be big enough for 2 2.5mm wires in each one as it will be on the ring main??? cheers

hi i have recently sealed up my shower enclosure and have a few smears of silicone on the glass and on the tiles in places. i have some Seal Guard to spray on but want to make sure the tiles are silicone free before i apply it. is hot soapy water the best thing to use?? cheers george
