    thing is i dont want to loose the pipe completely. just in case the next owner wants to put a gas fire in. laminate is not down yet but dont really fancy digging up a concrete floor to get to it. any other suggestions?? many thanks :)

    thats what i want. i cant change the sockets now cos the missus likes the polished chrome ones we have got now and it wil be more of a headache to convince her to change them for ones easier to wire than it ever would be to extend the cables!!!! sparkyspike - i will do mate. cheers :)

    sorry didnt see that last post of yours. i dont do domestic stuff at work, just crimps for temporarily joining cables, just wanted to check and make sure they were ok to use in domestic wiring a a permenant connection. i know its basic stuff but want to get it right. :roll:

    thanks mate - got one of those ratchet crimpers for doing stuff at work so thats ok. are the crimps available from somewhere like CEF? are they specially for mains voltages?? thankyou for all your help everyone :)

    removing silicon smears off glass and glazed tiles in shower

    hi i have recently sealed up my shower enclosure and have a few smears of silicone on the glass and on the tiles in places. i have some Seal Guard to spray on but want to make sure the tiles are silicone free before i apply it. is hot soapy water the best thing to use?? cheers george

    i wil try and get some photos up i have found the ones i need and they are the Espag mechanism, not shootbolt! i have found some onb ebay but they say the rail width is nearly always 16mm, but i measured mine and they are nearer 14mm. would these be ok to use?? cheers
