I may need to replace this tap is there any particular tools or advice that will help with access?

I have a dripping tap in my bathroom sink, I have been advised on this forum that I'm better replacing it rather than fixing it. The drip is getting worse, it's now turned into a fast drip and I can hear what sounds like rushing air coming from it aswell now. For replacing the taps I'd...

Can anybody give me a bit of advice on what I need to fix a leak on this type of tap?

I have a dripping leak on my bathroom cold tap. I know you get different types of tap which require different types of washers /discs and not sure what type this one takes. I have opened up as shown above can anybody tell me roughly how to go about sorting one like this? Thanks

Is there a way of identifying if you actually do have a leak? (hive leak sensor)

Tonight I had a high water usage alarm from my hive leak sensor, I also had one 4 days ago (at roughly the same time). I'm not convinced by these sensors, I believe they work by monitoring the temperature of the pipe so now the nights are getting a bit colder it could be causing spurious alarms...

Is this bath chip bad enough to need repaired, and if so what is best thing to use?

Just a quick follow up on this, from madrabs comment on this it seems the bath is acrylic coated fibre glass. I'm not sure the make up of these, is it likely/normal if the acrylic gets chipped the bath will leak, or does the fibreglass maintain the water tight integrity? It's difficult for me...

Is this bath chip bad enough to need repaired, and if so what is best thing to use?

Thanks for the reply, you mentioned the damage is tiny, does this mean its unlikely to be doing much harm as it is just now? The reason I ask is that it's been like this for about 6 weeks but I've been preoccupied with other stuff (new baby) to fix it, I'm basically wondering if leaving it this...

Is this bath chip bad enough to need repaired, and if so what is best thing to use?

The image above is from my bath (not sure what the bath material is it feels plastic but if there's a way to check please let me know). I don't have access below my bath so can't see if it's done any harm does this look bad enough to need fixed? If so is there a recommendation on what to use...

Clothes from washing machine come out smelling bad. Could no trap on drain be the cause?

As the title says I've noticed that clothes are coming out of the washing machine smelly. I've had a look on behind and there is no trap on the drain instead there is a vertical pipe coming up through the floor. This pipe appears to be vented. I have tried running cleaning cycles but it's not...

Is replacing /up sizing shower cable a notifiable job?

Hi, I had initially assumed that the UK had a standard regulatory policy for this until I seen your comments about laws in England. Don't suppose you know much about if Scotland is more /less strict with this sort of thing than England?

Is replacing /up sizing shower cable a notifiable job?

I should have noted that the house is in Scotland, not sure how or if the rules differ from England. In terms of cable length I'd estimate somewhere in the 8-10m range. For the shower itself I don't think I'll ever want to go bigger, my main concern is that any work I do is compliant Thanks

Is replacing /up sizing shower cable a notifiable job?

I've not been up to check it but I'm fairly certain it will run under the insulation for around 1.5-2m, other than that it's pretty much just clipped to the wall (routed through cupboards)

Is replacing /up sizing shower cable a notifiable job?

My shower cable between the pull chord isolator and shower looks damaged so I am going to replace it. My question is, is this a notifiable job that I'd have to get a registered electrician to do? Also, it's an 8.5kw shower currently supplied by 6mm2 T&E, it's clipped direct most of the way...

Is it possible to test to see if a house has a small water leak?

Thanks for the reply Andy, I'm not exactly sure what you mean tho, do you mean that water is leaking through the pushbutton? If so then I don't believe that this is the case as one of the pushbuttons is on top of the cistern and the other is high enough on the toilet that it's above the water...

Is it possible to test to see if a house has a small water leak?

Hi no water meter unfortunately. I'm guessing identifying if a leak is there is pretty difficult,, would a plumber have anything like a flow meter that could do this?

Is it possible to test to see if a house has a small water leak?

Hi all I had an alarm notification on my hive leak sensor this morning saying that a small/ low flow leak had been detected last night. I went through the trouble shoiting but couldn't find any leaky taps etc. It's possible a tap was left slightly for a while but then fully turned off next...

Just noticed a bit of yellowish flame (along with blue) on my gas hob, is this an urgent issue?

Thanks, I took it apart and wiped away debris etc and it seems to look a bit better now Is this the type of thing (gas cookers) that should be periodically checked for safety by a registered engineer? The cookers been here since before I moved in so I've no idea how old it is.

Just noticed a bit of yellowish flame (along with blue) on my gas hob, is this an urgent issue?

Ok thanks for the reply so this looks fairly normal to you? I remember being told yellow flames indicated a gas leak hence my concern

Just noticed a bit of yellowish flame (along with blue) on my gas hob, is this an urgent issue?

I have been planning on getting my gas cooker safety checked anyway but today I noticed the yelowness of the edges of the flame. I rarely use the cooker so it could have been like this for an ongoing period. Is this something serious? It's a bank holiday today so I guess my only option would...
