The right hand hinge has ceased to move on the machine. When this first happened I noticed the "black square pin" at the side of this hinge had come loose. Have re-inserted the pin but it doesn't seem to be gripping, the left hand pin is OK. The screen had come away in the frame, I've taped...

Sorry, I hadn't looked behind, I was assuming it had the same connectors as an older model I have. The present Freesat box is connected via an HDMI socket, I will read the manual first in future!

Yes there is a record button on the Sony TV. remote I really never thought it was in the machine, assumed it was an extra. I hate to admit I've had the machine for many years! Many thanks fh for pointing this out, I'll need to read the manual I think!

I normally use Freesat for TV watching and recording, but I live in a wooded area that interferes with the signals quite a lot at this time of year. My Freeview reception in OK. all of the time. Would appreciate advice on the best "standby" Freeview recorder to fall back on!

I have quite a large carport with a narrow gap in the middle about the size of a third of a 6 foot sheet, due to weather damage. I can easily get to the gap from underneath to refill and repair. Is there any way I could, having replaced the sheet, fix it permanently from underneath.
