I want to put a shower pump in the loft at the same level as the cold water tank however the hot water cylinder is in an airing cupboard on the next floor dow, will I need a negative head pump or will a standrd one do? Also, I know I need to fit a Sussex Flange to the hot water outlet at the...

Mains Cold & Pumped Hot to Thermostatic Mixer Shower?

Looked at the Trevi Boost but the wife wanted a antique large head type shower, so it looks like trailing tank fed cold through the house then.....bugger !! :(

Mains Cold & Pumped Hot to Thermostatic Mixer Shower?

I have very good cold water pressure, can I therefore run it straight to a thermostatic mixer shower with a pumped hot feed, if so will it need balancing? If not, can anyone recommend a very quiet/silent pump that can be used on both hot and cold although it's going to be a right pain to get the...

    Choosing a Shower

Hi, Re-doing my house bathroom and need a little advice on type of shower. I currently have (but will be replacing) an Aqualiser manual shower which is OK (ish) but when I fitted a Thermostatic cartridge it gave a really slow flow so I went back to the original manual. My options are...

    alternative backing for underfloor heating

It's a thought........but perhaps not :? Is the cement board used as an insulator then, I thought it was more to reflect the heat?

    alternative backing for underfloor heating

I'm re-tiling my hall floor with slate and want to install underfloor heating. Unfortunatley I don't have enough depth to install the recommended cement backing boards so just wondered if there were any thinner materials that would be useable as opposed to going straight onto the wooden subfloor.

    Rendering..How much

Staggered at the prices quoted, my 1920's semi needed fully re-rendering and I only managed to get one quote of under 10K. That was for a terylene finish not the fancy colour through stuff that I really wanted.

    Adding a cavity wall?

Potentially stupid question.............................can you add a secondary 'cavity' wall to a single elevation of a solid wall constructed house. I ask as the rear of my house is really exposed to the elements and I get water ingress even though I've had the house re-rendered and it's...

    POWERFLUSH....................worth the money?

Parent's tell me that the plumber stated that he is very puzzled, there is a blockage somewhere in the pipework system but no idea where, nothing coming out of the radiators, neither air or water, but pump is working. I guess flushing the systems could unblock it but am I correct in thinking...

    POWERFLUSH....................worth the money?

Update Well the heating systems has pretty much been condemned due to the steel pipework being 'knackered'. Can you folks give me your honest opinions on British Gas as he seems to have been persuaded that they're the best people to fit a new system. They also know how to charge ...

    POWERFLUSH....................worth the money?

Thanks for your replies, managed to get a plumber (mate of a mate) to come and have a look at it this evening and hopeully he'll sort it out. I'm hoping to eventually get them a brand new system but as I believe that this will involve replacing all the pipework with copper then it wont be cheap.

    POWERFLUSH....................worth the money?

My 75yr old parents have a problem with their central heating, all the upstairs rads are cold but all but one of the downstairs ones are working. Bleeding the cold ones had air for 5 seconds or so then nothing at all. British Gas Engineer has recommended a Powerflush @ £600 but I've heard mixed...

    Hiding Sink Waste Pipe

I'm fitting a corner sink without a pedestal into a small cloakroom and want to hide the 1.25" waste pipe. I can't get any access under the floor from the stud wall partition that it will be fitted to and I don't want to go straight through the outside wall and have a visible external waste...

Power Flue on Central Heating System?

I need to re-locate my central heating boiler, an oil fired Worcester Danesmoor 12/14, to allow me to knock an entrance into my house from an attached outbuilding. I'm going to struggle to meet the maximum of 2 x 135 deg bends in the flue to line up with the 40ft chimney on the outside of the...

    SEALING TYROLEAN RENDERING

Just in the process of having my house re-rendered in Tyrolean. Just wondered what the general view was on using a sealer such as Thompsons Water Seal applied afterwards to prevent long term rainwater damage?
