Any pitfalls in making new holes in a deadbolt lock to take a different handle?

My spacing from the handle are 65, 80 and 92mm (Although the 92mm hole is small) I have looked at the technical drawings of literally 1000s of handles and I can't find any that fit the 65mm spacing of my old handles, and none that I have found since will take the 80 or 92mm holes either. If I...

Any pitfalls in making new holes in a deadbolt lock to take a different handle?

See attached picture. I have 3 locks like this and all 3 sets of handles are in the same shape... They are 92PZ where the bottom screw goes UNDER the lock, and the top screw through the lowest hole (65mm from the spindle) Nothing I found would fit.. But now that I have seen the locks I can...

Any pitfalls in making new holes in a deadbolt lock to take a different handle?

Long story short.. 15 year old house.. Door handles in Metal Clad doors are ruined (pitted and broken).. Tried to find replacements and other than the fact they are 92PZ, the top/bottom hole spacing is totally non-standard. I finally got around to removing the lock and found that there were a...

Is a Hormann push switch just a door bell button?

All sorted.. I just put a pair of wires in the contact and dabbed them together and door goes down.. Again and it stops.. And a 3rd time it goes up.. . So this is a non-issue.. Any push switch rated at 24v will do the job... Thanks all.

Is a Hormann push switch just a door bell button?

Yes.. Just 2 wires.. But the logo on the board seems to imply that the switch is held by a relay... After some research I am 99% sure that a simple press button is all I need... So I am going to do some tests. WHat do you mean by "durable label"? Jon

Is a Hormann push switch just a door bell button?

:) Thats the one.. "Currently Unavailable" on Amazon.. Out of stock most places.. Those that have it want almost £40... I found an email for Hormann.. They told me that a push switch is fine.. So I am going to test it.. I think I am overthinking this.. A simple short on a pair of wires will...

Is a Hormann push switch just a door bell button?

Interesting. I am not sure I have the option have one switch for up.. And one for down.. I just have a single pair of contacts, so it just cycles the door up or down. I am interested in your other comment about using the up and down buttons on the remote.. I hate the fact that you use the same...

Is a Hormann push switch just a door bell button?

Cheers.. For £15 I would get the official one (although the one I fitted before was HORRIBLE as it was really hard to press and it was impossible to know if you had activated it)... But the cheapest I have found is more like £35.. And they appear to be out of stock too... All I need to do is...

Is a Hormann push switch just a door bell button?

I just moved into a house which has a Hormann garage door and opener.. i want to add a “manual” switch but am not sure if i have to buy theirs, or whether its just a standard momentary switch like a door bell. Does anyone know if i can simply short the terminals to operate the door?

    Which size UPVC Hinge

A lot of the hinges in my new house are broken.. I planned to replace them myself, but don't have time, so I paid a guy to do the most urgent ones for me and its a good job. My current hinges are just over 15" which is an odd size and I assumed he would fit 16".. But he said that he fits 12" as...

Can't find handles with the correct screw spacing

Thanks for doing that research.. Looking through the top hole in the door, there appears to be a hole in the lock and not a slot... So I think it has to be 65mm.. That said, I have seen "Gridlock" locks that have 2 holes and perhaps there is another at 75mm spacing The only way to find out is...

Can't find handles with the correct screw spacing

Good point.. See attached. There are absolutely no logos or makers marks on it at all... What makes no sense is that they seem really poor quality.. The house is only 10 years old and the chrome is really pitted.. In contrast, a BUDGET UPVC door I fitted in my old house a similar time ago has a...

    UPVC Window hinges are 15"

Yep.. Plastic ends are there.. I measured loads of windows and they are all exactly the same.. 388mm which is 1/4" over 15".. I have attached a photo incase anyone is interested (NB. The image has come out rotated, its Side Hung, so photo shows the hinge at the BOTTOM). Jon

Can't find handles with the correct screw spacing

I have just bought a 10 year old Barrett home, which has been built to a ridiculously high standard.. But only in some areas. There are 3 external metal clad doors with Multipoint locks (Made by "Grid Lock") which are quite stiff and the handles have broken. This has happened due to a...

    UPVC Window hinges are 15"

Many thanks... I think there is room for an extra inch.. But I am still curious as to why they are 15" when there is literally zero information about a 15" hinge online.. Could it be that they are just called 16", even though they are closer to 15"? Or did Barrett really get windows with...

    UPVC Window hinges are 15"

I have just bought a 10 year old "executive" house which was built by Barrett to a remarkable standard back in the day. But I am finding a bunch of minor issue where they clearly didn't use "high standard" parts and I am working around the house to rectify them, but keep hitting brick walls as...

Ideal Classic FF250 running but no flame

Agreed.. no suggestion of being ripped off.. It is what it is and I know its expensive.. I am just thinking that this is perhaps £300 towards a new boiler.. But then again, if it works and gives me years more service, its a small price to pay. Thanks for your help.. Fingers crossed he will do...

Ideal Classic FF250 running but no flame

Cheers both.. Point is understood. Engineer came out.. And diagnosed the gas valve at fault.. To be honest, he didn't spend enough time or do enough tests to PROVE this.. But I do agree with his logic.. They are coming back tomorrow and in total is going to cost just over £300 which made me...

Ideal Classic FF250 running but no flame

Before anyone says anything, I am not going to be fixing this myself.. I will have a go at fixing anything but not gas... But I am just curious for your advice. I came home last night and the house was up to temp but I started to notice it getting cold... This isn't uncommon as I have an...
