Double radiator with heat from 1 panel only

It's a type 12 with fins. I've flushed the system out and taken all the old rads off and flushed them outside. The water was reasonably clean. The rad in question is 27 years old. Will end up changing it I think as I'm out of ideas.

Double radiator with heat from 1 panel only

I have a 1600x600 type 22 double radiator with the panel at the back getting hot and the front panel only lukewarm. I've taken it off and ran a hose through it, banged it with a rubber mallet, add sludge remover to the system but no joy. Any ideas I could try other than replacing it?

Rothenberger Super fire 2 blow torch problem

No gas is coming out of the torch when I press the button. It was working fine until the gas ran out of the previous bottle and won't work with the new bottle and it has the same fitting. When I press the valve in the bottle it releases gas at pressure. Anyone else had a problem like this?

    Connecting 2 ovens.

We've got a 45a double pole switch in the kitchen and used to have 1 oven but will have 2 new ones soon. Can I take a 10mm cable from it to a socket and plug 1 oven in to that. From that socket take a cable to another socket and plug the 2nd oven into that. The reason for 2 sockets is so that...

No, they are all 240v. So no transformers.

Sockets with built in USB - can any sparkies recommend one that doesn't hum/whine!

You need a male one not a female. That'll stop the whining

    Spotlights dimmer than others

I've got led spotlights in our kitchen and recently 4 of them come on intermittently but then stay dimmer than the rest. I've tried replacing the bulbs including the adjacent one. When I switch the light on they all come on but the 4 on the right go down to a dimmed state within seconds. They're...

    Damp grout

The tanking was painted a few mm onto the tray so the moisture must be between the tanking and the tiles. I haven't siliconed it yet as I need to install the shower screens once I've put the tile back on.

    Damp grout

We have just done our bathroom out and the walls have been tiled. The shower hasn't been used yet as still got flooring and painting to do. After a week I noticed damp spots on the grout. The bottom where the tiles join the tray hasn't been sealed with silicone yet as I've to install the glass...

    Deep shower waste trap advice

My shower waste trap isn't deep enough as I've had to put the tray on a bed of mortar. Are there traps that are deeper?

    Best thermostatic shower

I'm reffurbing our bathroom and will be installing a new thermostatic shower which runs off a combi boiler. Previously we had a Grohe shower which has worked brilliantly but is 24 years old. We have great water pressure and was wondering if anyone can recommend a really good shower?

Just to update. I managed to get some oven lights in their casings and used wires that are used for ovens. Works really well and effective.

Radiator pipework when changing from type 21 to 22

I need to increase the btu for a radiator at my sons house and was thinking of putting a size 22 rather than the existing size 21. Is it just the fins that are doubled up and no other difference ? I'm trying to work out if the pipework needs to be changed as it'll be awkward as they have lvt...

    Staining/waxing wooden furniture

We have bought a tv cabinet which is called a dark fumed oak colour. I've got a solid oak coffee table that I wanted to keep so wondered if I sand it down, how easy would it be to try and stain/wax it to get a near as possible match? The picture shows the colour I want to achieve. Its a greyish...

    Lighting for log burner

Does anyone know of any lights that would be suitable to put either above a log burner either side of the flue or recessed into the oak beam approx 50cm away from the top of the stove. I already have a fused spur installed on the side of the chimney breast.

Confused by log burner hearth regs

I'm building a chimney breast and hearth with a view to install a log burner. How far out should the hearth come out into the room ? I plan to tile with 300mm tiles and had planned one row of tiles in front of the fire on a concrete base but have read varying posts about the hearth should be...
