Thanks for your reply Masona. I did enquire yeserday about how many breeze blocks. I would only need 4 meters so about £30 and the metal thingy each side to tie in to existing brickwork. The only thing i was thinking about with the stud wall is getting it level with each side, so therefore it...

    Breeze Block or Stud wall?

Hi, A few years ago i took out a dividing wall between 2 bedrooms to make a square arch through. The wall was not a supporting one, however i put in a wooden lintel above for the foot of wall remaining. As my boy is now bigger i want to put it back to how it was (typical woman). Now, what...

Hi, Have just put new mdf white skirting(from wickes) in my bedroom. I have bought the new Dulux ultra tough satinwood paint. It says on the tin no need to undercoat. BUT, as it is primed MDF would it be best to give a coat of undercoat following with 1 coat of Satinwood. OR, no undercoat and...

Hi, Now i have that bit sorted now for the next! I like to do things properly and am really fussy (as u have gathered so far). I understand that i lay my flooring like brick effect. Laminate Flooring Dilemma!

Hi, Thanks for your reply. What i meant was the difference in the floor level will be the 6mm plyin the hall. All the laminate is matching at 6mm thickness, so the hallway height would be 6mm higher than the other rooms. Cheers Lorraine

    Laminate Flooring Dilemma!

Hi Woodyoulike, Thanks for your reply. Thats what i was thinking of doing, but as all the laminate is 'matching', would the level difference in the laminate notice when the doors are open in each of the rooms. (i am very, very fussy as you can see!)

    Boundary/planning problem

Hi, Just looking at your reasons for refusal. I live in a bungalow and there used to be a 1 bed next door to me. Planning was given 3 years ago and now it is a monstrosity. It is mansard roofed, beamed (fake) and rendered mess. It overshadows my bungalow and it overhangs my bungalow at the back...

Sorry, no, there is no chimney or stack. The crack is inside of the outside wall. It runs diagonally from the corner of where the lintel is in the room, to the fireplace which is centred to the middle of the wall. The fireplace is a plaster lois style with marble hearth and back panel with...

    Crack in Wall

Hi, Our bungalow is now 17yrs old and we have owned it from new. After a couple of years old we had a crack appear coming from the corner of the lounge running down to the fireplace (which was put in after the bungalow was built). We continually fill it every 2 or 3 years. It only ever opens...
