    Siemens dishwasher E23 error

No. My earlier repairs were conducted without removing any covers. I have now checked the hose from the pump outlet to the contraption I posted a picture of. It was clear of restrictions but full of water, as I expected. Do you have any idea what the darkened areas of the picture I posted are? I...

    Siemens dishwasher E23 error

Update. I've got the LHS off and find this contraption. There seem to be 2 waste hoses at the bottom LHS. One from the drain pump? and the other to the outside. a) what is this contraption? and b) can I just pull both hoses off and join them?

    Siemens dishwasher E23 error

Hi all, My Siemens dishwasher suffered from E15 error. After switching off/on the drain motor was rotating constantly so after doing the usual checks (filter, drain moter rotating freely, outlet hose, U bend) I pulled it out, rocked it forward and it worked for a while. This process was followed...

    Cutting concrete spears

Thanks for your input Tiger & John. I don't think met post style sockets would be suitable as the wooden fence posts are 2"x3". I guess I'll go for the whole spear solution & dig 60 or so cm down leaving and exposed length of concrete about one third of the hight of the fence itself. Thanks...

    Cutting concrete spears

Thanks for all the replies. I can't cut & drill them then. I guess I'll have to use them full size, though I'd rather not have loads of concrete post visible. It was difficult enough getting the idea past my girlfriend in the first place (she's not a fan of the repair spurs in the back garden)...

    Cutting concrete spears

Hi all, I have a white picket fence in the front garden which has blown over for the third time in 10 years. The problem is that the wooden posts only sit about 2" into a concrete base and so it has no strength in a high wind. I've used concrete spears to repair the fence in the back garden to...

Making my own kitchen unit doors.

Thanks for all the replies... Food for thought indeed. Notch, the door making service is probably too expensive for me -around £1500 as opposed to £184 delivered for cut-to-size 18mm slabs of Medite Moisture Resistant MDF (inc.VAT). I guess the stumbling block is the high gloss finish but I...

Making my own kitchen unit doors.

Hi all, I've got some 'shaker' type doors (MDF I think) which are bulging at the joints due to moisture ingress. The unit carcasses are fine though - the kitchen was fitted around 5-6 years ago - so I thought I might turn my meagre carpentry skills to making some new doors myself. I was...

    Condensing boiler pressure dropping quickly

Is this such a drain-off? It's attached to a rad on the ground floor, I would be draining the whole radiator system? I've poked the needle of the valve and only air (no water)rushes out. Is this a good sign?

    Condensing boiler pressure dropping quickly

Hi all, The boiler is approx 10 yrs old and, for maybe the last 3 of those years, it's been losing pressure (during the winter months only) such that I have had to re-pressurise occasionally -maybe 2 or 3 times a Winter. I put off investigating further until a damp patch appeared on a...

    Brake failure?

Got the car back today and the garage owner can't find anything wrong. He thinks there could be an intermittent fault with the ABS system though as he's heard of similar faults on other VW Audi models. Didn't charge me anything butsaidbring it back if it happens again.

    Brake failure?

Thanks for all the answers guys. I get the distinct impression that simply topping up the brake fluid resivoir aint gonna cut it. Astra99, your comment put me in mind of an old Vauxhall Viva I had about 40 years ago whose brakes liked to be "pumped":) I'm not 17 anymore, so I've put it in my...

    Brake failure?

Hi all, A funny thing happened on the way home tonight. I was driving really slowly in traffic - maybe 2mph - when suddenly there was no response as I pressed the brake pedal right down. I pulled the handbrake up too with no response and consequently bumped the guy in front. He was fine about...

Beko WM stopping just after powder is used.

Hi all, I've got a BEKO WME8227 which has started playing up. Just after the washing powder is 'rinsed in' from the tray, the machine stops and sits there for 10 minutes, then pumps out and cancels the program. Any ideas?

Can a shower pump be used to give pressure to the whole flat's hot water?

As the title says, is this possible and is there any paticular pump that is required? Thanks, Chris.

    Cement as a floor leveller?

Hi, Ihave some carpets being laid on Thursday and suspect that there may be some unevenness in the concrete that the underlay will sit on. Will it be OK to just use cement as a means of filling in these areas or do I need to mix sand in too? If so, can anyone give me the correct proportions to...

    Sealing MDF kitchen shelf

Thanks for the advice Opps. I got some Zinsser and gave the whole shelf 3 coats followed by a coat of oil-based undercoat. Looks a lot better even now. I'll apply a couple of coats of this Eggshell paint. It's the paint I habitually use and seems to give the best results. I didn't (until now)...

    Sealing MDF kitchen shelf

Thanks for your input Opps. Primer eh? I thought undercoat was primer:). Is this the kind of stuff you mean? it calls itself an oil based primer but it seems very expensive. Would it be worth sanding down, giving it 2 or 3 coats of Zinnser and then (oil-based) undercoat and gloss?

    Dimplex Quantum or Creda TRSE?

Tenant fine with no heatng at all in bedroom. I'll wait til he leaves to pop a panel heater in. Storage heaters are already removed. Carting 350odd Kg of brick down 2 flights was hard enough but carting the same weight UP 2 flights..... Re asbestos: Creda stopped using it in 1975, mine were...

    Wrong hinges?

Hi all, I have a window which doesn't close properly. The RHS is fine but at the Top LHS there is a gap when closed. I'm pretty sure that the problem is that the top of the opening part of the hinge is broken. See photos Broken hinge. Unbroken hinge. I took the window out and measured the...
