Simple 1 Gang Switch and Socket Replace Purchasing Question

Am looking to replace some switches and sockets, nothing fancy, just a straight replace like for like. Other than 1-Gang 1-Way type features for light switches and 1-Gang features for plug sockets is there anything else I need to think about when I am buying the switches and sockets?

    Low garden retaining wall.

For such a short wall you could do a drystone wall rather than pay for marshalls, you don't need footings. I have done this and it worked well for me (the wife was pleased).

Fence Post Issues with Wider Wall Foundations

Thanks foxhole, Am not going panels otherwise cannot get close to the curve of the wall. Am fixing to the face of the posts to get the finished fence closer to the inside of the brick wall. The problem with bolting is that there's a gap between the post and the wall as the current posts are...

Fence Post Issues with Wider Wall Foundations

I hope that someone can help me. I am partway through constructing a close board fence next to my new single skin garden wall. The previous fence was posts and panels some of which were bolted into the wall, these recently took out part of the wall in a storm. Have got half the fence done...

Close Board fence rails cannot stagger joints

Hi sircerebus666, I decided not to bolt to the wall because: The previous wall and fence (bolted down) got blown down in the recent storms. The detail on the top of the fence some bricks on end some not (don't know what this is called) doesn't allow for a neat finish if posts this close to...

Close Board fence rails cannot stagger joints

Am installing a close board fence. Installing against a small wall and not always possible to get posts at 180cm integers. This due to the differing width of the wall foundations in places and old post cement. I'm trying to get as close as possible to the 180cm and also trying to get a...

Which Bolts? Bolt Down Post Shoe 100 x 100mm

Thanks JohnD I hear what you are saying. I am using 1 in the middle of a run of posts, its because the posts are going up along a short wall. The foundations in one area are much wider stopping me from fitting a post without breaking up the foundations very close to the wall. Annoyingly...

    Taking a homeowner to court

I think I'm right in saying that if you start making too much of a fuss when you do move you will be asked to disclose and letters you have sent (or have actioned others to be sent) to your neighbour. It's c##p I know (believe me I do know) but I would wait it out and move once lockdown is over.

    Creaking Bath when in Shower

We have an electric shower over our bath and we have recently noticed that there is a creaking noise in shower, the base of the bath seems to be giving more than it used too. Never used to happen so am puzzled but imaging that if I don't do something the bath could end up cracking. I can see...

    Fence Height Lower Front Garden

My front garden adjoins a public footpath followed by the road. My garden is lower than the path by a 30 - 40 CM. I know I can put a 1-meter fence out the front but is this height measured from my garden or the path, or is it taken from the level of the road itself?

Prolong Life Single Skin Garden Wall

Sounds like a good idea, how regular should they be, every 4 bricks or so? Is water seal of some sort worthwhile I wonder if the cost would be prohibitive, especially if I coat both sides of the wall?
