wiring a type 6013 relay switch to a float switch

OK. I bought a new relay switch, checked switches on the float, plugged the new relay in and switched on. Lights showed ok on the relay housing box, situated in the garage. Went up into the loft and moved the ball float. BANG! Spark from one of the float switches ans also blew the relay. At this...

wiring a type 6013 relay switch to a float switch

Hmm. lots to think about. Maybe I will have a look at the old float and see if it can be repaired. Looks weird and wobbly but it did work.

wiring a type 6013 relay switch to a float switch

That looks interesting. Would this then not need the 'high level' grey wire?

wiring a type 6013 relay switch to a float switch

Thanks. I was thinking that the rating on the relay read 250v AC so it was mains. The float switch was bought as a 240v mains feed. I have added a diagram of the circuit for the relay, which might help.

wiring a type 6013 relay switch to a float switch

Hi. I have a water harvesting system that needs a new float switch. There is a relay switch (see photo), as part of the old system installed in 2003. I have bought a new float switch for the tank in the loft, Float Switch 25 VA SPST Horizontal Ballcock Type PPS WRAS Cynergy3 RSF46Y100RG. I...

Adding insulation between joists to existing underfloor heating

This looks the kind if thing I was thinking, but they don't cover Kent.

Adding insulation between joists to existing underfloor heating

I contacted Robbens but they only designed and supplied the parts in 2003. It seems that their instructions were not followed and the builders cut corners and bodged it. Unless I can find a way to get insulation under the pipes (and maybe that would push the pipes into contact with the...

Adding insulation between joists to existing underfloor heating

The pipe is attached to the joists and runs up one and back down the next. Then loops round to the next cavity. The spreader plate is just a big flat sheet of thin metal, across the whole of the first floor, under the floor boards. There is carpet but the bathroom has a tiled floor, which, if...

removing one leaf of a thermal block cavity wall

Yes. I have the plans showing this. The wall is 300mm thick. The house is a Chalet bungalow with 2 bedrooms upstairs. The door goes into a utility room, that although all built at the same time, is a single floor, like an extension, so the wall was designed as an outside wall but I think both...

Adding insulation between joists to existing underfloor heating

The house we moved into recently, has very good underfloor heating on the, solid ground floor but we have found that the first floor has no insulation fitted at all below the pipework. There is a foil 'spreader' above the pipes, which seems to be big sheets of galvanised metal laid on top of the...

removing one leaf of a thermal block cavity wall

I want to put a pocket door into an existing internal, thermal block cavity wall, with an existing doorway. I'm thinking that if I remove just one side of the block work next to the door, I can fit the frame and replace a stud wall in it's place. Would I need a lintel or would the other side of...

6mm twin earth cable for a 4m spur

Thanks everyone for the input. I have got new 4mm cable to do the job 6mm would as you said cause problems.

6mm twin earth cable for a 4m spur

Some good points there. It will run behind the skirting board but I can see I would struggle to get the 6mm in with the other 2. Better re-think this eh?

6mm twin earth cable for a 4m spur

I have about 6m of 6mm mains cable that I would like to use to move a double socket spur to the other side of the room, which would be about 4m. The existing socket is right next to the primary socket. I know 6mm is higher rated than is needed but would there be any problem with using it? I...

    UFH Servicing

Yes, sorry about the faceache sign in. I don't know how it got linked to them in the first place! The new boiler idea is not to fix the ufh but it is a Ravenheat boiler from somewhere like Wickes. Very basic and 13 years old. I am going to get the system checked out, flushed out and maybe get...

    UFH Servicing

I have found out that David Robbens only design systems, the do not install or service. The main problem is a fault in the control box between the hot water and ufh system. Going to get a full overhaul and probably a new boiler.

Very heavy radiator to be fitted to Thermal block wall

I have just bought a Quinn 'slieve' design double radiator 1600x723 horizontal. This is to be fitted to an outside wall of a 30 year old extension made from Thermal Blocks (no bricks). The weight of this radiator is so heavy that I cannot lift one end of it and am concerned that the wall will...
