    alarm or CCTV advice

I fitted an infinite prime wireless alarm in our house about 5 years ago. The external bell box is playing up so I need to replace that along with some batteries in the PIR's. The alarm has the gsm module fitted so it calls if the alarm is activated etc. I'm undecided whether to spend the...

Hi, Thanks for the reply on this. I've attached a dodgy picture of what I plan to do. The red lines are the waste pipe which I plan to run in 40mm. I'm looking at putting one of these AAV's between waste pipe for the sink and washing machine. Is this the right place to put it...

Hi, I am planning a new kitchen and things are going to be moving from their old positions. The 1.5 bowl sink and dishwasher are going to be on a peninsular so I'm planning on running the waste down to the cellar below which will then run to the washing machine which is in the cellar...

Osmo door oil has darkened doors too much

Hi, We've had our old pine doors chemically stripped. I've sanded them up and applied osmo door oil to one of the doors over the weekend. The oil has really darkened the wood a lot. Does anyone know if the doors will lighten up again as the oil dries? I applied the first coat yesterday...

how long for dot and dab to dry before tiling

It's a brick wall. The 40mm accounts for taking the wall back to brick. I thought the dabs would be between 5-10mm thick which would keep me inside the 40mm?

how long for dot and dab to dry before tiling

There's one wall I can't batten as the door frame on the adjacent wall is too close. I only have about 40mm for the dabs, plasterboard, adhesive and tiles so it's going to be a tight fit. Cheers Rob

How long for dot and dab to dry before tiling

Hi, I've posted the same question in the plastering forum but thought the tilers may know the answer too. I am going to plasterboard my bathroom walls using 12.mm board and dot and dab. I will also be using frame fixings through the dot and dab into the brick for extra strength as I'm...

how long for dot and dab to dry before tiling

Hi, I am going to plasterboard my bathroom walls using 12.mm board and dot and dab. I will also be using frame fixings through the dot and dab into the brick for extra strength as I'm going to tile the walls using porcelain tiles. My question is, how long do I need to leave the dot and dab...

removing old cement render from red bricks - internal

Hi, I am currently re-doing the bathroom. I've taken off the old tiles and the walls under the tiles have had the plaster stripped off and replaced with a cement render before tiling. The wall was only tiled halfway up and the top half is still plaster which is coming off easy. However, the...

Hi, I'm soon going to be starting work on the bathrrom. I'm planning on ripping off the old tiles and plaster so I can fit new plasterboards to the walls before tiling. All the walls are red brick and some I can batten before boarding. But others are too close to door frame to batten and...

newish radiator cold on one side

im sure the radiator was fine when i first fitted it. The only thing i've changed is turning the central heating temperature down on the boiler (worcester bosch greenstar 30si). It was set to max for the winter but i turned it down to 4. I'd expect it to cool the radiators down a bit across the...

newish radiator cold on one side

Hi, Any advice appreciated. I recently fitted a new designer radiator in the living room - it's 1800mm high and 450mm wide. I've just noticed that only the left hand side is red hot and it gradually gets cooler as you get to the right hand side of the radiator. The flow comes in at the...

Hi, I have a Salus RT500rf programmable stat at the moment but it's not great. I want to change it for a honeywell CM927. Can anyone tell me if the terminals in the salus receiver are labelled the same as the terminals in the honeywell receiver - will it be a straight swap or will I have...
