    Hanging a metal trellis

Can I get those from Wickes? My only other concern is that the spacing between the holes isn't much and if I drill (need a tougher drill bit?) then the two holes become one.... Seriously, this is why i generally pay better people than me to do these things, pay cheap pay twice and all that...

    Hanging a metal trellis

Hi, Can someone give me some advice on this? I want to put this rather heavy trellis up on our back wall of the house. Two questions, should I just drive in some masonry nails with big heads (wall is solid though) or use raw plugs/screws? Secondly, what's the purpose of four hooks? The top two...

Fixing a TV to new shed wall

The electric point has is not right in the centre of the wall. Does that matter? Does the bracket have to be completely central? I'd really like the tv to be completely central on the wall, well at least in the middle from left to right!

Fixing a TV to new shed wall

Hi, I've just have one of those garden out sheds built and want to hang a cheap largish tv on one of the inside walls. I understand there's two methods. One is sticky pads (which work as tvs now are lighter?) and the other (better?) is to use studs in the wall that the TV bracket goes on. So...

Removing moss from garden path (and not killing grass)

Pressure washers are too destructive. Sweeping in diluted Wickes bricks and mortar cleaner works a treat for the initial cleanse but be wary of run off. And then just spray moss killer every now and again.

Felting a shed roof, without using pins

I've never had clout nails go through any of my timber shed roofs yet. They do come in different sizes, some barely penetrate the felt so should be ok.

    Colourful Plants in the Winter

Hi, Every Nov this plant out front comes out in a bloom of colour. Everybody remarks on it. I have no idea what it is but it's some cheer against autumn skies. It made me wonder if there's a Dec colourful plant as well I could grow to then swap around? Thanks, Matt

    Garden strimmer wire replacing

Got the belt off at last. Is there still hope? Seems bad to replace a whole strimmer just because of a small part!

    Garden strimmer wire replacing

No I can't get the belt off and I can't see the make in order to buy the exact same one again. How will I know a pre loaded one will fit?

    Garden strimmer wire replacing

Here's a photo. So I can just buy wire to push through the holes as you say? It doesn't look like it dismantles anymore although I have tried hence why it looks a bit battered!

    Garden strimmer wire replacing

Hi, My strimmer has no make stamped on it but I need to replace the wire. Do they come in standard sizes or can you just buy the thread to thread through in absence of buying a unit? Thanks Matt

Bit of waste ground - Wild flowers?

Thanks for all the advice. The council are rubbish here and devoid of any common sense. What are 'stronger' species of wild flowers?

Bit of waste ground - Wild flowers?

Hi, Theres a bit of waste ground opposite. It's a bit dry there at the moment, dogs do their business and the council occasionally come and trim it. I was wondering whether some wild flower seeds would take if I scattered them once the rains come back. Thanks Matt

    How does this come off?

Thanks. I've worked it out. The toilet seat unclips from the screws so you can then tackle it from either side. It was so easy that I feel annoyed with myself!

    How does this come off?

Hi, I've tried an adjustable spanner (doesn't grip) and grippers. Shouldnt this be an easy job to tighten up a toilet seat? Am I missing a trick? Thanks Matt

    Scarification

I thought spiking is pointless where the lawn is compacted. I just end up with permanent holes.
