    Bound Resin Patio Area

Sorting out the garden, thinking of trying the bound resin for the patio area, I see kits are available online and i think Selco had some kits last time I was passing. Bit unclear on the sub-base, I understand it has to be solid else there will be cracking / movement. Would 4 inches of type 1...

Stop people sitting on a wall

No its not near a bus stop - its a long road, most of the residential houses have no wall, or hedges, or high walls and getting to ours i guess some people just can't help but use it as a resting point. There really are some weird people around (druggies drunks) - I just would like them to stop...

Stop people sitting on a wall

Maybe I should have said, it is a business, I don't think railings will look right, and even if they did - there are drunks and weirdos going up the road (the ones I want to not stop and sit) if someone tripped and impaled themselves, accidentally or deliberately, I'm sure they would sue, so...

Stop people sitting on a wall

I've got a low outside wall which people keep sitting on. Whats the easiest way to build up and add a triangular top to the wall to making a pointy edge, to make it uncomfortable to sit on? as per pic I thought making a timber mould of the shape and making the required sections with concrete ...

    Outbuilding / Internal render query

Difficult one, I've used him before and he has lots of experience, but i don't think he would appreciate me telling him what to put in the render, he gets irked when I get involved, bits I do to save time i do when he's left lol. Waterproofer is all he uses which i suppose is at least something...

    Outbuilding / Internal render query

Thanks - just confirms what i was thinking! it didn't make any sense to me Single skin 4" concrete blocks, it's built next to the back fence so not possible to render the back (the sides can be). Is there any liquid sealer that can be rolled on the back on the concrete blocks to give some water...

Having an 5m x 2m outbuilding put up. 4" concrete block walls, walls and roof are up. It has a damp course. Hi, changing a couple of old single panel radiator i bathrooms to a towel radiators which protrudes an inch further out when fitted. Commercial Microwave query, 500V 20A Supply

Commercial Microwave at business packed up. The only info I can find is it's a 2.9KW Microwave (1800w Microwave power output), and it's hard wired to a small box supply on the wall with a lever cut off which is marked as 500V 20A Supply (put in 40 years ago). I'm told the supply used to power...

Linking 2 water supplies for a business

What a typical cost to upgrade the mains to a 50mm supply from the water board? The way i see it, it's going to be very awkward to get the existing supply upgraded becuse how it runs under the building, and is probably easier to put in a new supply and cut the first... The water meter is inside...

Linking 2 water supplies for a business

Bit of an odd one. I run a business (Hotel) and an adjoining house on a separate meter, also owned by the same business, and is usually empty. If too many showers are in use at the same time some rooms have poor water flow to some of the showers in the hotel. When the water system was upgraded...

remove cladding from front of house, render or something else?

Hi, I had a skip to fill so started taking off concrete cladding on the front of the house (c1920 3 bed victorian terrace), probably put up 20 years ago. Horrible stuff, and not well adhered to the wall (did worry at one point bits might fall on the wife and kids when they started coming...

Deter Children climbing a tree against rear wall..

I've messaged the council. I've stated children could get injured (and in the past have) and also any trees growing next to the wall will in future damage the wall... Hopefully they'll act. We were thinking of buying stinging nettle seeds and sprinkle them in the rec, if there are any other...

Deter Children climbing a tree against rear wall..

I'm not a kill joy, i climbed trees when I was young too... But at the back of work car park, there is a 30m wall 2m high. on the other side is a rec. At one point there is one tree in the recreation ground which forks and is handy for a child to shimmy up. Not mature, at a guess 15-20 years...
