Yes, you are right... it seems to make its own trap. However I see that there is a rubber seal missing from this one, so that probably does not help it create a firm seal. Thanks very much everyone.... Al

Ah, ok... I see what you are saying. I can try and install two traps under the sink... very hard to do as a lack of space. However, do you think that the air admittance valve is serving its purpose and keeping the main trap full? Thanks
