Tado system- bridging the old wired thermostat

Afternoon all Just installed my tado system and all seems good. However I need to bridge the old mechanical thermostat and decommission it but the tado app doesn't recognise my thermostat so can't provide me with instructions. Is any one able to shed any light on what I need to do here?

Intermittent hot water after turning off stop cock

Hi all. I live in a new build, and have recently had some plumbing work to install an insinkerator in the kitchen sink. Some of the copper piping needed moving to do this, so the mains water was isolated under the sink in order to do so. However, ever since then (and only occasionally) I...

    Rotating a stop cock

Morning all I need to rotate this stop tap so that the handle is facing upwards. This is to allow space for an insinkerator. Ill obviously isolate the water before I do anything, but can I just loosen the bolts on either side of the stopcock, and then rotate it around and then retighten?

    Wallpaper suddenly sagging

Hi all. My parents have just sent me some pictures of their wallpaper which has been on the wall for years....it's suddenly started sagging and they have no idea why! And nor do I(n)! I guessed at a water leak or similar but they've not noticed any other symptoms. The other side of the wall...

Plastering over a small single chase

Hi all I’ve done a bit of plastering over my years, but usually starting from scratch and using multi. I’ve been volunteered to assist the in-laws with covering up a chase following them having an electrical socket moved about 2 ft down the wall, so it’s not the largest of areas. From the...

    Cladding brick wall

Morning all I have a retaining brick wall running the perimeter of my garden approx 20m x 70cm. The brick work is shot, but repaired in the worst places. Plastering over a lot of wires

Chaps Just after a quick bit of advice please. I've had my house rewired, and all of the cabling from the fuse box has come up through on the other side of the wall. I now need to fill that area. Should I just put an inspection hatch in, which will allow access to the wires or should I just...

Changing 1 gang to 2 gang

Hi all, Im in the process of plasterboarding some walls in a bedroom, before I skim them. I intend to later replace the ceiling rose with an array of spotlights, and some other type of mood light in a soffit, but this will require me having a 2 gang light switch. Before I plasterboard over the...

    Laminate flooring transition

hi all I've recently refurbished my bathroom and am in the process of sorting the flooring out. Initially I was going to tile the floor, so I put 6mm plywood over the floorboards (and fitted the cupboards over the top). However, I've now decided that I'm going to use laminate flooring...

    Tile adhesive still wet

hi all About a week ago, I tiled my bathroom using big 600x300 porcelain tiles. In the shower area, I waterproofed it using the Mapai waterproofing kit, and decided to use a different adhesive to the screwfix own brand, for that area. I bought and used ' unibond shower adhesive for large...

    Skimming over hardwall

hi all. Bit of a newbie here...so go easy on me.... I've had some electrical work and plumbing/heating work on my house, and some of the chases have been filled with what I expect is bonding or hardwall. I have also filled 3 large unused 'hotair' vents using the mixture (I forget what was in...

    Problem with toilet flushing

Pressure Reducing Valve- Am I about to drown??

Hi, Hopefully one of you can put my mind at rest. I live in a block of flats, and I have a very high water pressure rate which I guess is good. I have a pressure reduction valve fitted after my stop clock under the kitchen sink. It has a gauge on it with an apparently self moveable red line set...
