Ah sorry, no, were not having padstones like that. The SE calculated using the existing extension walls to take the load, so no digging for new foundations. BC have signed off existing footings as adequate for another load so should be all okay.

You mean for this section? My SE didn't calculate anything for that. Possibly due to the first floor structure being timber frame rather than block and brick .

No modifications to foundations, BC have signed off existing footings as suitable for another load. Only pads are for the steels that run within our property across the ceiling to take the load of the left side of the new storey.

We've got an extension happening soon which is an extension on top of our existing extension. It won't be connected to our neighbours property but running alongside it, theres actually a slight gap between their existing extension and ours so nothing is built on any adjoining walls. Please see...

I went ahead and hacked a lot of it off... When I say hack, half of it just pulled off. I did reveal a few gaping holes though. Could I just fill with some lime mortar or is it worth getting a new brick below first? I think some of the slate dpc is broken too. Our airbrick sticks out now as...

Had a bit more of an inspection and it seems like they also cement rendered sections of it below the DPC... When you hacked off your old render, did you have to seal the bricks at all after?

The render at the bottom of my house is pretty rough looking. Would it be okay to hack all the render there (black section) and just have it bare brick? We are in a 1880s house.

Hey all, we found this behind one of our large frames downstairs. At first I thought it was damp but it's all pitted looking, could it be mold instead or something else? It's like half way up the wall and no where else.

So I started digging down the side of my single storey extension to see how deep the foundations are, as we'd like to build on top but I've seem to have come to this point already at around 550mm down. Is that narrow solid strip at the bottom the end of the foundations? It doesn't seem very deep...
