Anyone know much about slip ratings? I'm looking to tile up our front pathway to our front door and been looking around a load of porcelain tiles for it. I've come across a lot of R9 rated tiles but it seems to be on the lowest side of the ratings e.g https://tinyurl.com/yc5u6z3m Do you think...

Possible to wire a new light into double switch?

Looking to get an outdoor light installed and I've already switched out the switch to a double switch but I'm not actually certain I can just connect the new light to the switch now... Basically the other switch is connected to a two way kitchen light and the other side is not connected to...

    vibration/live switch faceplate

That's a good point. An electrician was the one who installed the light fitting... Maybe he's cocked up with it. Will check to see how it's done... You'd expect an electrician to do it properly FML

    vibration/live switch faceplate

Okay so I'm really confused with this metal switch I've just installed. I've installed multiple ones around the house with no issues but this one seems to be giving me a weird vibration sensation when the switch is turned on. The electrical screwdriver is showing that it's got a current running...

    Osmo Polyx Oil Floorboards

Anyone able to answer this? I've just applied Osmo Polyx Oil Raw onto my floorboards (X2 coat) and I was hoping it would help seal the floorboards from splintering, however if I run my hand around, I'm still catching bits of wood. Is this normal with Osmo? I was expecting it to have more of a...

    Boiler cupboard door regulations?

Anyone know if I have to abide by any regulations for the type of door to be used on a boiler cupboard? Want to replace this ugly door with a spare Victorian pine door we have but not sure if that's actually allowed.

    Plastering repair - skirting

I've had to take off the skirting to lower it since we removed the carpet but I'm left with a slight gap if I was to reinstall the skirting. Anyone know what the best type of plastering to use to fill in some space and to have it blend with the current plaster? Would something like jetcem...

    Bathtub not holding water

My tub just won't seem to hold water. I've tightened the screw on the plug so it's practically touching the bottom but it still drains. I've even tried pushing down and holding with some force to see if that works and it still drains away. Water doesn't seem to be leaking around the rim as...

Is this asbestos under my floors???

I haven't got a clue what asbestos looks like but the misses had a freak out when I pulled up the floorboards in our Victorian home. Anyone care to enlighten us on whether this is just an accumulation of years of crap or whether it actually looks like asbestos to you?

    Twist cover overflow bath

I unscrewed it from the hole on the cover. Most cases it loosens the cap and comes off.

    Twist cover overflow bath

Doesn't pull off at all. Tried to stick a screwdriver behind to pry it off and it's just bending it. How the hell have they stuck this on! I want to access the overflow hole so I can clean behind it but at this rate I guess I can't ever take it off haha
