Sprung a leak. Help needed please ?

Another option I was considering, was to just use copper for that final (through the wall) bit and onto the shower head ? So it would go from a JG elbow through the wall and onto the shower head. Another question, is, should you use PTFE on compression fittings ? and how is it applied...

Sprung a leak. Help needed please ?

Hi, Can anyone advise on fitting a thermostatic shower head to Plastic pipework. I have fitted one this week and I think it has been the cause of quite a major leak. I have used plastic JG Speedfit throughout the whole job (New En Suite). My question is, where the actual head joins the...

I have just bought a load of tiles to do a bathroom. When I got them home I noticed the ones I bought for the wall said "Floor Tiles" on the box. They are 600 x 300 x 9mm ceramic tiles and will be mainly bedded onto 12.5mm plasterboard (srewed to stud) dry walls (some to a height of 2.7M)...

    Plastic 450mm manhole Questions

Hi, I need to add a new soil pipe to an existing brick built/clay pipe manhole. The clay pipe is broken at the exit of the existing manhole, so that will need to be tackled too. My original idea is to remove the existing clay pipe in the hole and replace it with plastic, with a Y branch to...

    More soil pipe questions !!!

Thanks mate. Yes I am aware of that. But I still want to make a start asap. I can just fill it in later. I think, for the sake of a tenner, I will fit some sort of rod access at the base. Thanks guys.

    More soil pipe questions !!!

Thanks Hugh. I am aware of the rest bend required and I have informed LABC, so any issues and I am sure they will let me know !!!! But I just want to crack on and get the pipe in without any rework after any inspection. Would it be prudent, if not a requirement do you think, to fit one of...

    More soil pipe questions !!!

Hi, I need to run a new soil pipe to an existing manhole. I have checked today and it is a straight 9 metre run to the manhole, from the bottom of the stack. Do I need any sort of inspection hole or anything for this run ? Or can I just run straight to the manhole ? Thanks

New en suite, waste and soil basics ?

Thx Muggles. I have seen a clamp on boss for connecting the waste to the soil, is this the normal method ? (seems easy enough). Or is there anything else ? There will be an upstairs bay window with opening approx 3M from the stack, is the best solution to just run it right up to the roof...

    New En Suite tiling

Hi Richard C, Thanks for that lengthy and comprehensive reply. I fully understand what you mean about doing a job someone else had prepped. But 95% of the walls were already there !!! Mostly plastered, with a mixture of new and old stuff (1930's probably) !! The cubicle has a tray so...

    New En Suite tiling

Hi, In the process of doing a new en suite. The tiling is a major thing I don't want to bugger up. I was planning on doing this myself as I have done my kithchen floor and walls, but a Shower and Bathroom require a bit more know how I guess !! I am now thinking about getting a pro in...

    Is this notifiable work ?

The term "unqualified" is not entirely correct, but the statement is. The term "UNREGISTERED person" would be better. You need to be Part P registered to carry out the work. A 'Qualified' spark shouldn't be doing it, if he aint part P registered. Same as gas, you can be a 'qualified'...

    Is this notifiable work ?

Wow, thats quite a lot to get through. Thanks gents. Not really fussed about the electrics, I am competent and qualified for Inspection and Test myself and am fully aware of the law surrounding this. I was just unsure on the plumbing and drainage !!! Cheers to all that replied.
