Enlargening hole with flat wood bit?

I've got a 22mm hole through a door for a bolt which needs replacing with one which is 25mm wide. Can I use a 25mm flat wood bit accurately to make it bigger to accommodate this or is there a better way? My concern is that the drill bit will wander as there is nothing for it to bite into. Thanks

    how to scribe bath panel??

I have an acrylic p-shaped panel which I need to fit, but the floor is uneven and it needs to be cut more than I thought. What's the best way of scribing the panel to fit the side of the bath? It fits perfect in one corner but is about 3mm too wide everywhere else. I understand the idea of...

    Hotpoint VTD00 dryer -- trips rcd/scraping noises

Any advice on how I can sort out the heater wires? And also how practical is it to try to sort out the drum myself? ie. expense and difficulty. I'm quite competent and able if I know where to start, but don't want to go in out of my depth either. Thanks again for your help so far

    Hotpoint VTD00 dryer -- trips rcd/scraping noises

Hi, I have a Hotpoint VTD00 dryer which I know has had a few repair attempts in the past but is still causing problems now. The dryer trips the RCD if left on 'high heat' for more than a few minutes, and regardless of this the drum is making a scraping noise when it's rotating. I'd like...

    Fitting bath panel?

There's no clips of any kind, so I was going to use timber to secure it to the floor. I've since found out that the plumber who fit the bath and tiled the floor never measured it for the panel, so now the panel is too wide!! What can I do about this, I was going to trim it down but don't know...

    Fitting bath panel?

I am trying to install a B&Q bath panel with a curved edge, and the end panel too. I'm not sure how to go about doing this, especially the curved part. Is it just a case of securing a batten to the floor and screwing the panel on to this? Any advice would be very much appreciated. Many...

    best wall fixings?

I plan on boxing in some pipes in the bathroom, and have some brown wall plugs to put the framing in. The walls are made up of two layers of tiles and one of plasterboard, with what I think is a gap after that. The floor is made up of tiles on top of plywood, on top of wooden floorboards. Am...

    pvc pipe boxing

I've seen PVC boxing for pipes and was looking at this as an alternative to wood -- has anyone come across this before, and where's the best place to get it from? Thanks

    Changing door jamb?

I want to use the same door so my main concern is that the door won't sit flush within the frame in the same way, as I am trying to have it close on the other side. Wouldn't I have to cut out and move the door jamb or something similar?

    Changing door jamb?

Hi, I currently have a door that opens into a room, I want to replace this by installing a sliding door on the outside, so the door frame will need to be adjusted to accommodate this from the other side -- what's the best way of doing this? Thanks

    lead flashing at abutment

Many thanks for the responses, especially the video as I was planning to refer to that later! Is the lead sealant option likely to work, and am I still ok to use the same dimensions as in the picture in my previous post? How big should I try to make the overlap? I do have access to an arc...

    lead flashing at abutment

Hi, I am trying to replace the flashband at the abutment of a conservatory and house with lead sheet. I am going to use step flashing but have two small questions: -- there is a ridge at the centre so how do I go about flashing that? I have seen the saddle in the top left corner of this...

    replacing conservatory roof?

Hello all, I am trying to replace the roof of an Edwardian style conservatory. The polycarbonate sheets have just been nailed to the wooden rafters and it's starting to leak. I'm planning on replacing the sheets and using glazing bars between them -- as far as I understand, the glazing...
