Advise needed to repair 1 damaged plaster wall, no plasterer seems to want the work

D&D plasterboard + Skimming is the easiest and cleanest way. However, you will lose some wall space usually 1.5-2cm and this sometimes can be a problem if there's a door frame on this wall. How big is the wall? If you are looking to paint on lining paper, I wouldn't bother skim the whole wall...

Looking at the floor plan, if the neighbour has positioned their sofa the same as the floor plan, they should also find it noisy to the sound of your cooking, kettle boiling, or microwave running? You can get a reasonable sound proofing if you are willing to lose about 5cm if wall. If you can...

help with intergas kit and flue please

I have set my eyes on intergas Eco RF 30 and found a plumber that can install it. He's happy for me to buy it but I'm not sure which fitting kit and flue should I go for. The plumber says any telescopic type with minimum 600mm should be fine but intergas website only has 520mm telescopic ones...

Any tips for removing 2 layers of tiles?

Hi all, One of our kitchen wall has 2 layers of tiles on it. The area is 3m wide of double tiles floor to ceiling. My small SDS drill doesn't seem powerful enough to remove 2 tiles in one go. Is manually removing first layer the only way to deal with it? Thanks.

separate building notice application for each work?

Thanks all. I am on the 7th floor in a purposed build building. The WC waste pipe will be connected to existing toilet waste pipe in bathroom. No external connection. If I submit all work in 1 application, what happens if I decided not to do the WC? We are definitely opening the wall, but...

Hi all, Just bought a flat that has artex ceilings tested positive for asbestos. Most of ceilings either have thick asbestos-free artex or been painted over in pretty good condition so we are happy not to disturb it. However, after removing 2 fitted wardrobes in our bedroom, it was revealed the...

    what happens if EICR fail

Thanks for the replies, much appreciate it. It's a relief to know full rewire isn't the only option. Will C1/C2/C3 code compromise the safety certificate for new circuit/socket installed? What are other implications for having unsatisfactory codes besides the risk? unable to have insurance?

    advice for opening concrete ceiling

Thanks, I'm on top floor and the lease says we can do it so long it complies with all building registration requirement and that's why structure engineer is involved. My other option is to proceed as if they are load bearing which apparently will cost a lot more than opening up ceiling first.

    what happens if EICR fail

Electrician came round to do a quote for partial rewire. Basically I need a lot more sockets, new consumer unit and an extra new circuit for ktichen. I was going to leave the lighting circuit as it is but I was told the lighting circuit might be unsafe and advised to have a full rewire or EICR...
