    Bonding Ladder Radiator

Hi, I have a white ladder rad in cloakroom working off electric only. Should I bond the rad? If so,how do I do it. I would normally bond pipe to pipe but there is no pipe in this case and I do not wand to remove any paint. Clues please :?

Pull switch rose too small for wiring!

I have a bathroom light pull switch working off a radial circuit (dropped down to 5A) in a converted garage. I have 1.5mm cable into the switch for power and out to the light / extractor. But there is a space problem … too many wires too small a space. Can I connect the earth wires...

Can a PIR light trigger wireless doorbell??????

A colleague of mine gets woken by her door bell going off in the night. When they look out of the window, next door's outside light PIR has been activated. Based on their surroundings, it is not possible that a person has rung the bell and activated the PIR though. To make an odd post even...

    Extractor fan off bathroom light

Just a thought, could I connect the fan to come on when the shower pullcord is on instead of the light pullcord? This would be when the fan was needed. So, shower pullcord to triple pole islating switch to fan....is this acceptable??????

    Extractor fan off bathroom light

Sorry, I know there have been man pots on this subject but I need clarification before progressing. I have build a downstairs cloakroom by converting the back of my garage. I have power to the room of the radial circuit into the garage. I have the lights running off a spur through a 5A FCU...

    Timer switch for electric raditor

Hi, cheers for the reply. The rad was delivered yesterday. The flex is short, so now I must have a FCU low on the wall and a timer at eye level. Is there a timer on the market to fit between the feed and the FCU without breaking the bank?

    Timer switch for electric raditor

Hi, I am fitting a ladder radiator with element to work off electric only. I want to use with a timer. The rad instructions recommend wiring to a 13A fused connection unit. Can I plug into a timer switch with a 13A fuse in the plug instead? Or, is there an “in-line” timer switch available (to...

    Electric Ladder Radiator

Hi, I have converted part of my integral garage into a shower room. I want to heat the space. I am a long way from the central heating pipes. Someone suggested an electric towel radiator. I have priced these at Screwfix and the rad I like is £38. However, to have it thermostatically controlled...

    Lights off radial in garage

Thanks for the reply. My terminology is wrong. You are correct a fused connection unit ids the answer and of course I do not need a switch because the lights will be independant. I have peace of mind to progress now ... cheers

    Lights off radial in garage

I have a radial circuit (2.5mm sq) into garage and workshop serving 2 x double and 1 x single sockets Total length of cable 8m. I am going to run a spur off to a 5A switched spur unit for 2 x lights in the garage and 1 x light in the workshop. Can I wire for both lights from the one switched...

Comments/advice re the attched wiring diagram please

The attached is my attempt to display the wiring to my garage. I want to add an additional socket and additional light working off the same switches. To avoid the diagram being over crowded I have not included the earth cables in the 2.5mm & 1.5mm cables. The yellow cables that feed the light...

    Limitations of radial circuit

Hi, currently I have 1 light in workshop and 2 lights and 2 double sockets in the garage ... I plan to add my old consumer unit, (I am replacing my existing one) 1 additional light and 1 additional socket. Would this be acceptable?

    Limitations of radial circuit

Confused! I have read that a radial circuit using 2.5mm cable covered by a 20A mcb can serve an area of no more that 20sq metres. How is this measured? Is the distance from the consumer unit to the area served by the radial circuit a factor? In my case, the distance from the consumer unit to...

    Garage Electrics

Thanks for the reply. I stand corrected I do mean mcbs and not fuses. In answer to your question, the cable is a single run of 2.5mm to the sockets and light switches and 1.5mm from the light switches to the lights.

    Garage Electrics

Theoretical Question ... I am having a new split load distribution board fitted shortly. Currently I have a single power cable feeding both the sockets and the lights in the garage (not sure how but was like this when I moved in). Can I fit my old distribution board (to keep the cost down) in...
