    Cheers lads, ive fittted the new valve now and will keep a close eye on it. When i get a minute i might cut into the controller and try to determine if it was the wax escaping.

    Great replies thanks. I thought the same about the wax and when i cleaned it up it definitely felt "waxy". It was definitely leaking so also suspected the spindle was goosed. A double whammy though?? Anyway new valve in the post. Thanks again
