    Makita v DeWalt

Two votes for Makita then, i must admit my first thought was for Makita and the price difference makes it look that way too. I've been having trouble getting my head round the £160 odd difference for what looks like very similar kit. My intention posting here was to test the water for the...

    Makita v DeWalt

This DeWalt set is nearer the Makita price, but i suspect the other DeWalt i linked is the newer set.... http://www.angliatoolcentre.co.uk/dewalt-18v-5-piece-kit-lithium-ion-xr-batteries-pid37968.html

    Keyboard not working!!!

Hi, Further to my recent post about the virus Security Shield, i've tried running antivirus and malware programs and have now lost the use of the keyboard on my machine. Obviously i'm using another machine to post this....the laptop i have the issue with is an Acer Extensia 5620Z running...

    Security Shield virus

Thanks Igorian, i did as you suggested and think it is better, but there are still some random web pages opening up....i'm guessing the Security Shield rubbish has gone but maybe some kind of code left hiding somewhere opening pages when it feels like it.

Thanks joinerjohn  i have actually done that already....the trouble is, do i follow a random goggle link someone has put up in the hope it works, only to find it make it worse....? The reason i asked the question here is that i trust the info i've had on DIYnot in the past and kinda...

    Security Shield virus

Hi, my machine has picked up the self downloading virus/malware Security Shield. I've ran various cleaning/killing programs inc SpyBot, MalwareBytes, SuperAntiSpyware & Windows Defender and although i think some or most of the virus has been cleared it is obvious some is still hanging around on...

    Repairing ornate post top (Damaged)

My first thought was plaster board adhesive to stick it back together, but also, if the broken part is large maybe drill both parts to allow a metal rod or two between them to give support.

    Hewlett Packard hard drive

My laptop does support booting from USB, i tried setting the boot menu to USB first with the old HD plugged in and powered up but got a screen saying problems starting etc so, not wanting to risk my correctly operating laptop i switched settings back again.

    Hewlett Packard hard drive

The caddy has arrived and the hard drive fits it ok, what i was hoping is that i could access the hard drive in the same way as when a pc is first switched on with the various user names avalible to enter with password etc. However, when i access the hard drive it is more like a giant memory...

    Opinions on this house...?

I'd pretty much agree with DAZB, the work looks scruffy but tied in. Pity who ever did it didn't take a little more care. The extention toothed in is a bit agricultural & could certainly have been done better. You clearly have a concern so therefore you really need to get professional survey...

    Hewlett Packard hard drive

Hi, I have an old'ish Hewlett Packard desk top pc that won't start up properly because of over heating i think. The start up screen comes on ok for a while and then the machine turns off after much noise from the fans. To be honest i'm not bothered about the machine it's self, but i am...

    Digital reception

I ended up sending the amp back to the supplier at which point they tested it and said there was no fault. Upon re-connecting we had the same problem again, i then ditched the amp all together and just got a standard non amplified 4 way splitter, fitted it and all is perfect again. Not sure...

    concrete base

6 inch deep would be plenty, some might say 4 inch but no problem being deeper. Yes shuttering will be required and a membrane for the concrete to be laid on, reinforcing would be a good idea too. So, 3m x 2m x 0.15m gives you 0.9 cubic metre of concrete, say 1 cube to allow for dips etc...

Best Chisel/tool to flatten concrete jutting out

The hole can't be large, therefore can you knock it out and rewall it so the finish is level/plumb? If not and assuming it is concrete can you get hold of a Kango type breaker with a spade attachment which will be quicker and easier than a hammer and bolster.

    Second quality brick supplier

I tried a goggle search for your topic and only came up with reclaimed brick suppliers in your area, which isn't going to be what you want price wise. Maybe call at your local merchant and ask the question re 2nds, that said i doubt there's going to be alot of price difference between 2nds...
