    Fit TRV to this radiator?

Hi all, Looking to fit a 15mm TRV and lockshield to this radiatior. I'm not at the property at present, so only have this photo to go off, but it looks like 10mm rad pipe to me? Is there a chrome reducer I can use? Can only find copper on Screwfix/Toolstation. Thanks!

Upgrading 60A main fuse to 100A

Will do. Regarding the load, am I wrong in thinking 17.5kW equates to about 76A?

Upgrading 60A main fuse to 100A

No I have an, ahem, need for some high powered lamps in the loft :) Only messing, want to put in an electric shower, something of decent power (9-10.5kW), but also have a 7.2kW electric car charger to wire up. Don't want a situation where someone's in the shower, the car's on charge and...

Upgrading 60A main fuse to 100A

Just moved into a new house, built 2001. Old house had a 100A fuse, whereas this has a rather weedy 60A. I will be having the consumer unit upgraded to modern standards soon, and wondered how difficult it would be to have Northern Electric upgrade the 60A fuse? Would the 16mm meter tails...

What bathroom zone is this light fitting in?

I would, but would rather the new owners don’t electrocute themselves and it falls on my shoulders. This is the fitting that wasn’t fitted there when we bought the house from new. So am assuming it’s ok.

What bathroom zone is this light fitting in?

As title really, just wondering what bathroom zone this light fitting would be in? Id say it’s less than 300mm from edge of shower. Asking as my dad reckons its zone 2, and should be an IP44 light fitting. I say it’s no zone, as per this diagram: Thanks

Moving electric car chargepoint to new house

Ok, so decided to go for the option of replacing the charger with a similar outdoor socket from the same manufacturer. Mostly as the buyer’s solicitor was demanding we “make good any damage done by removing the charger to the buyers standards”. Lawyers eh? Side by side: So, swapped it over...

Looking for some advice - what can I and can I not do?

Couldn’t it be an issue when he comes to sell the house though?

Can you identify this consumer unit?

Since you’re wondering... it’s the house we’re buying, and last time I was round I forgot to look, and didn’t want to bother the current owners with the query. It’s not a case of knowing so I can decide whether to buy the house or not, it’s more a case of wanting to identify it so I can look...

Can you identify this consumer unit?

Long shot I know, but wondering if anyone can identify the consumer unit in this (grainy) photo from the estate agent’s website? House was built 2001, if that helps. Am I right in thinking it looks like the left hand bank of switches are rcd-protected? Cheers!

Swapped car charger for outdoor socket - reduce mcb rating?

Their solicitor did, yes. Couldn’t believe it.

Swapped car charger for outdoor socket - reduce mcb rating?

That photo is the exact outdoor socket I have put on in place of the electric car charger. It is a rather elaborate outdoor socket, but it fitted the same baseplate as the charger so avoided leaving holes in brick wall that buyer would want fixed. So due to the 16A rcbo being fitted (as...

Swapped car charger for outdoor socket - reduce mcb rating?

i recently replaced my 7.2kw electric car charger with a 13a outdoor socket as we’re moving next week. The car charger had a 40A mcb fitted in the consumer unit and I am wondering if it is safe to leave it at 40A, or replace it with a 16A version? If it helps, the outdoor socket has a 16A...

Moving electric car chargepoint to new house

I added the electric car chargepoint to section 11 of the TA10 "Fixtures and Fittings" form that the solicitor sent. (On this a house seller states whether various fixtures and fittings are included or excluded in the sale). I added it to this and said it was excluded, so the buyer's solicitor...

Moving electric car chargepoint to new house

So, if I were to choose not to just leave the plastic box there and put a blanking plate in (I don't want to give the buyer anything to complain about), if I were to replace the box with an identical up/down PIR wall light, would there be any problem with this light being on its own MCB in the...

Moving electric car chargepoint to new house

Strange regarding picture. All I see is a little box with [ img ] in it, and can’t click it. Regarding looking inside the box, no I haven’t yet, that would’ve been far too sensible. It’s on the job list for today. :)

Moving electric car chargepoint to new house

I’ll be taking the surface mounted armoured cable away, but the feed coming from the CU through the wall into the box will still be present? Surely the box needs to be water tight due to this?

Moving electric car chargepoint to new house

Ah is that all I need? I have loads of those. I just assumed it would be a more specialised blanking plate if it were to retain the box’s IP rating, no? Cheers
