    Urgent: Gas Cooker Installation Question.

I've just had a cooker with Gas hob fitted. I noticed the guy didn't put a washer in the new flexible hose. This seemed odd to me, I'd had a good look at the old cooker and pipe which was pretty much identical to the new one (Bayonet 1 end, apparently 1/2 or 3/4 inch BSP the other) and that...

    What cable for a cooker.

I've got some 1.5mm 16amp 3093Y. If I'm going to have to put a 13AMP fuse in the fuse box to protect the oven I might as well use that? Unless it's a typo in the manual.

    What cable for a cooker.

It's going to a recently installed cooker 'socket' (FWOABW.)

    What cable for a cooker.

I need to source the cable from the wall to the cooker. I'm pretty sure what cable I need but can someone spell it out to me. "The power supply cable should conform to BS6004 with a conductor size of 4mm2." "Electrical connection 4mm2 twin and earth 230/240V a.c. 50Hz. 13A fuse."...

Sink Drain and Dishwasher Drain into one 40mm Waste pipe?

I've just realized I can save myself a load of grief by draining my sink into a Tee Peice on the same 40mm Waste pipe that the Dishwasher uses. The only drawback I can think of is that if the pipe gets blocked the spill could end up coming up out of the dishwasher pipe (potentially I could...

Hole in Brickwork for a 40mm Waste Pipe.

Ta Dan. I found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0Pj9zzPN0s Hope my pathetic drill is man enough for this. Looks like a 50mm core drill is the answer: http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=161539

Lack of Drop on Kitchen Waste Pipe

I'm installing a new sink & the 40mm waste pipe for my sink drain is a little bit too high for the trap. This is the trap: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/40215522/ Can I get away with that? The water would be at worst 1 inch over the top of the trap. What's the worst that...

Hole in Brickwork for a 40mm Waste Pipe.

I need to drill a hole for a 40mm waste pipe through my cavity walls. What's the quickest way to do this and what do I need? (Must be available from Screwfix or similar tomorrow!) Tradesmen have commented that our walls are super strong so I really don't want to be chiseling it out by...

    Compression fittings.

Just popped some ptfe tape on the olives. The 15mm fitting fits snuggly on the pipe with no play at all. The 22mm doesn't fit snuggly so I suspect may be imperial. It's been on there for a week so I don't feel the need to do anything about it immediately. What next?

    Compression fittings.

Nope. If I was adovcating that (or anything else) I would have said so. I'm saying I've got two pipes which are an unknown quantity which could well be imperial. The bigger of the two which is either 22 or 3/4 seems fairly watertight. The 15 or 1/2 is seeping more. Strangely neither seem...

    Compression fittings.

Almost certainly imperial. However the 3/4 (22mm) is pretty much fine, the 1/2 (15mm) is the leakier one. Although ironically they're both dry now. Wonder if it's temperature related.

    Compression fittings.

Last week I fitted two compression fittings between taps and copper pipes (15mm & 22mm) and both are weeping a bit round the thread. I've already tightened them with spanners much harder than I really thought was wise (to the point where I'm wondering if that is the cause of the problem). Do...

    Drilling hole in Thin Stainless.

I've got to drill 1 hole for the tail or a mixed kitchen tap in one of these: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/64630785/ I've got to get it right first time. What type of drill bit do I need? (I expect it'll be 28mm but I dont' know what 'type' I need to cut a hole like that.)...

    Stop Cock...

MANY THANKS ALL! In fact the gland nut thread was fine. A bit of PTFE in gland a pinch of the gland nut and all is well. I'm going to take a great deal of care of that stop cock over the (hopefully) coming decades. :-)
