Sink Drain and Dishwasher Drain into one 40mm Waste pipe?

I've just realized I can save myself a load of grief by draining my sink into a Tee Peice on the same 40mm Waste pipe that the Dishwasher uses.

The only drawback I can think of is that if the pipe gets blocked the spill could end up coming up out of the dishwasher pipe (potentially I could make it higher than the sink to cope with that or just not bother).

Is this a stupid idea?

You are not the first, and you won't be the last. Thousands of people have hooked their dishwasher/washing machine into the sink drain. You need to get as much hight as possible and use angled joints to help flow.
