Urgent: Bath starts to fill up when plug is in?

It sounds like the flange of the bath waste is loose. She said shes just tried unscrewing it and more water came out so she screwed it back up. How would a loose flange cause the water to flow upwards? Why would it cause the water to continuously flow? Doesnt make sense.

Urgent: Bath starts to fill up when plug is in?

Im with you on that, i literally cant get my head around it. The hissing is there still apparently after all. The only thing i can think of is if there is some sort of pressure in the waste system or something pushing the water up.

Urgent: Bath starts to fill up when plug is in?

Ive been told the water comes up from the sides of the silver waste drain and then flows down the main hole into the trap. The overflow is connected to the silver waste drain. They are basin pillar taps, not connected to the waste in any way. The bath is just a normal straight bath. Taps...

Urgent: Bath starts to fill up when plug is in?

A relative has gone round and unscrewed the overflow off the bath, the hissing sound has stopped but the water is still coming from the drain. The water is apparently coming from the drain where it meets the bath. I told them there isnt any pressure there so water shouldnt be coming upwards. I...

Urgent: Bath starts to fill up when plug is in?

Hi guys, Had a phone/video call off the mother in law. There has been a hissing noise coming from behind her bath taps/overflow area since yesterday. She has had a look down the back of the bath, behind where the taps are, down a small gap that is there, she cant see any water. There is a...

Better construction method to keep heat in

Hi guys, Just after some opinions. Im going to be building an outbuilding out of block that will be in use all year round. What would be the better construction method to keep it warmer in the winter? Option 1 - Double skin block wall (no cavity), with plasterboard dot and dabbed. Option 2 -...

    Outbuilding floor below ground level

Cost, time, and looks. Cost - We are trying to keep build cost to a minimum. To keep it watertight people here have recommended DPM between 2 courses of blocks which wont cost a lot. The only additional cost incurred with going down vs up will be the grab hire to get rid of the soil. When you...

    Outbuilding floor below ground level

Hi guys. I want to build an outbuilding with the external dimensions to be within permitted development (2.5m overall height, less than 50% of land surrounding the house, less than 30sqm), however i intend to have the floor 450mm below the external ground level, so you will step down into it...

    Cheapest way to finish blocks?

I thought that. Skimmed it myself in the end. Didnt bother getting any more quotes i assumed that was the price of plastering these days. I might get some quotes for the rendering.

Outbuilding within 1m of boundary. To what extent does it have to be non combustable?

I did want to do the entire perimeter of the building. Now my partner is thinking we clad the front and paint the sides and back. If ive read the rules correctly, outbuildings cant have a footprint of more than 50% of the land surrounding the house. Current garage (at rear of property) = 13.25...

    Cheapest way to finish blocks?

I was hoping to avoid building control thats why i want it non combustible. Paint is a good idea, however i wanted to hide the block appearance. This could be a good back up option though.

    Cheapest way to finish blocks?

Hi guys. What is the cheapest way to finish the block walls of an outbuilding? I was going to use timber cladding, but as it will be 0.6m from the boundary, it has to be non combustible. I priced this up at around £1400. I considered render, but after being quoted 1k to have a 10sqm ceiling...

Outbuilding within 1m of boundary. To what extent does it have to be non combustable?

Hi guys, I want to build an outbuilding in my garden, it will be 0.6m from the boundary (neighbours fences) in 3 directions (back, and both sides). It will be around 26sqm internally. I understand, as it will be within 1m of the boundary, it has to be constructed of mainly of non combustible...

    What foundations for out building?

Because i dont know what a suitable depth will be given the close proximity of the trees. As others have said, i could end up digging up most of the garden.
