Byron BY102 wireless bell broken after a month's use

Yes, I say broken, but for littlest of things. My wife and I are in our eighties, so our strength is waning, and after a short time found that the push was hard. My ever useful son-i-l came round, took off the cover to find water had got in, damaging it. We think it has ruined not only the push...

    Continually running Roca Dual Flush

We have one from 2008. This morning it started running non stop after it was flushed, and the flush button gives no resistance to pressure. I'd like to see if I can cure the problem but can see no way to remove the cistern lid. I think it must be via the flush fitting. How do I remove the lid...

New wireless doorbell: less than month won't ring.

Broadband. My connection was all over the shop and there was noise from the transformer, badly installed too by prev owner probably 20+ years ago.

New wireless doorbell: less than month won't ring.

Our ancient wired bell was replaced, because the transformer was suspected of causing BB problems. In its place I bought a wireless replacement that my daughter's husband helped me install. Age has made us less useful with our hands! It worked well, though the button required some pressure, but...

Double glazed windows below flat porch and bay

Some of our windows situated in such positions, which I admit are older than fifteen years have misted up, and will need replacing. One frame in the bay was dealt with about two years ago has failed to. I have also noticed that the flat roofs have parts where rain water gathers. Before I go...

Why are quotes so widely varied for same job?

I see there are profiles S706, Thermo and Edge that the installers use. Is there actually much difference between them in performance for price differential? Has anyone idea by what % one is dearer than the others?

Why are quotes so widely varied for same job?

He has asked me how much might be charged additionally for dealing with the surrounds of the two rear dormer windows. He mentions replacement or cladding over. Any thoughts on cost or preferable method? Pic attached

Why are quotes so widely varied for same job?

Thanks for post. He avoided the nationals on purpose, so I meant the four he'd had quotes for. It's those differences that bug me. I'm curious about the last sentance. Can you please expand and say why? Myself I'm a non-techie.

Why are quotes so widely varied for same job?

Why would quotes for the same job be so different? My son told me that he has such from four installers, and that the work asked from each is identical. The range is around £2900. As he lives in the affluent South-east I would not prices to be the lowest. So uou can see what son wants done see...

Room ventilation requits when installing windows and opinion

A relative is having his property's aluminium windows replaced by PVCU. From the time I had mine done a while back, I recall that the installer changed the configuration from what it was previously to fit with the then room ventilation regulations. The earlier windows were IIRC over specified...

Integrated freezer has been tripping house RCD

So we called someone in. Once the freezer had been removed from under the worktop, it was found that the freezer's top was very wet, and the thermostat too. Drying the freezer, stat and protecting the latter seems to have cured the tripping and erratic behaviour of the appliance, at least for...

    Consumer unit tripping; advice please.

From the latest posts it seems that further actions by yours truly would be useless and even counter productive. So it's get that man in, methinks. Thanks everyone once again for your contributions.

    Consumer unit tripping; advice please.

Water ingress: nothing obvious. Does it have to be much; could it just be atmospheric? Integral heaters; do you mean like the boiler or washer-dryer, or something else? Both my examples were not working at the incidents' time. Motors; I assume like the fridge and freezer. I vaguely...

    Consumer unit tripping; advice please.

Just had another incident in midst of posting.. grr. @Scoby_Beasley The porch light appears to run within the lighting circuit, as does the outside security light. Both have their own wall switches, eiach side of the wall which separates house from attached garage. There are two 3pin...
