    Replacing floor by Sliding door

I stained the new boards a couple of times before I varnished the whole floor. I’m very happy with the outcome though. I used Ronseal diamond hard - dark oak.

    Ummm balls :(

Cheers Freddie, just thought I’d share a bit of mishap that’s happened, no need to be a douche  lower, that’ll be the way I reckon I’ll go. Not a huge issue, but still an issue nonetheless. I’ve been taking it off and on for now. Just need to find a side hatch

    Plaster boarding over boiler pipes

Hi all, you’ve all been such great help with a lot of the stuff I’ve been tackling. Now my kitchen is probably the worst in the house... but as a temporary (a couple years, maybe 3) fix before I tear it down and start again. I’m thinking of plasterboarding over the bare bricks. I’ve just had a...

    Replacing floor by Sliding door

Ok I think it’s fixed haha. I’ve treated a lot of the wood with some rot stuff. We used a long block of timber and glued/screwed it into the brick below and cut some boards down to size and also staggered the boards so it didn’t look too odd. It feels more secure than a lot of the other boards...

    Replacing floor by Sliding door

Thanks for the reply. Interesting to note the doors are done bloody backwards  I’ll include some more pics to show what I’m dealing with on the right hand side. I was thinking of building a small brick wall just wear there was an attempt of one here to give the mid part more support?

    My switch is crackling?!

Hmm, so can I use electrical tape?

    My switch is crackling?!

Ah ok, so I think it might be the dust. I’ll give it a look tomorrow with the power off. I do have a replacement rocker switch should I need to anyways. Can I cover the casing up once fixed with electrical tape so no more dust falls down? I’ll need to fill the chasing in etc at some point so...

    Replacing floor by Sliding door

You read my mind with the contrasting bit. the air bricks are within the DPM bricks. There’s a 3 foot crawl space underneath the floor. So I was thinking of just sticking a piece of timber against the wall side. But a bracket might be good for some reinforcement.

    My switch is crackling?!

I’ll attach a video, could it be something to do with dust, as the chasing has been cut out from above and I know a lot of dust has got in there. Or is it just a lose connection, but it now happens with both switches. What is it?

    Replacing floor by Sliding door

I’ve got an issue. I’ve just had my lounge plastered. I want to sand and lacquer the floor. I can’t find the same T&G floor boards anywhere! I’ve tried reclamation centres, and the usual timber merchants. ... Anyways... I’ve bought some Red Pine boards that are the same thickness and I’ll...

Wtf is this and can I get rid?!

Hi guys. I’m doing a kitchen “refresh” as I’m leaving the kitchen last on my first house. Anyways, I’m taking up the floor carpet tiles (yes, kitchen carpet ) and this tap is just sticking out of the floor. It’s in the part of the kitchen where it has had a small extension in 1950. Firstly does...

    Condition of floor board

Cheers guys, I ended up buying some wood that’s the right thickness from Wickes. It’s about an inch too wide, so I’ve bought a circular saw and I’ll trim it to size. What do you reckon?

    Condition of floor board

Thankyou for the advice. I’m looking into insulating underneath. As we have a big sliding glass door as it is and it can get a bit draughty! Question is now, how do I replace the “wall plate” I’ve been told. The massive gaps between one of the floor joists and the “wall plate” are missing. It...

    Condition of floor board

Hi there, I’m renovating my first house and I’d love to sand down and varnish the floor boards in the living room (currently having the room plastered) are these floor boards ok to sand and varnish, also will they be easily replaced? Not really sure where to start with replacing floor boards. I...
