question about plumbing part for shower

At the moment, I can get a tool in behind the tile from underneath (just had to remove the batten running along the wall) and I've removed the one in the photograph without taking off the tile so I'm fairly confident I can do the same to reconnect. Thanks for the advice, I'll see how it...

question about plumbing part for shower

Unfortunately, yes. If absolutely necessary, I can remove the 2 tiles and make the pipe recesses a bit deeper, but that would be a last resort if I can't find a better part or successfully modify the part I have.

question about plumbing part for shower

Just another pic of the actual connecting bit I'm referring to.. What would I use to cut it? Or if not cut it, then do you know if these parts come any smaller than 1 3/4" long? if it was closer to 1 1/2" long, it would do the job. Or perhaps even a straight reducing fitting if such a...

question about plumbing part for shower

Yes, that's right. There's no way I can tighten it more because the mixer valve has a thread of less than 1/2" as well as a thick washer in there and the thread of the offset connector is just over 1/2", so I'm wanting to know if it's possible to cut down the thread so the mixer valve can meet...

question about plumbing part for shower

Hello, First of all I would like to apologise for not knowing any technical terms or names of all the parts involved in this query. I hope I can describe it well enough for you to know what I'm talking about. I'm about to install a thermostatic shower with exposed valve and rigid riser...

Advice needed please - hollow sound when tapping on tile

I'm laying some 610x406 travertine tiles on the wall and the wall behind the particular row I am working on at the moment has a very gradual slope to it. In order to get the tile flush with the tile below, it has been necessary for one end of it to come away slightly from the wall. I have...

    Colour/mixing advice needed please

Hi, I've been trying out a few shades of white for my bathroom ceiling which is currently painted in white matt emulsion. This is just how it was when I moved in, so I figure it's best to paint it with actual bathroom paint with a low sheen. I bought a shade called morning mist from focus...

    Draining system

Looks like I'll be using this section of the forum quite a lot over the summer... Ok, I've been doing some plumbing around the house, fixing a leaking internal stopcock and now moved onto plumbing in a thermostatic shower and both times I've had to turn off the external mains in order...

Thermostatic shower installation - waterproof pipe covering?

I'm about to begin installing new hot & cold supply pipes for a thermostatic shower above bath and I've seen mentioned in a few places that the pipes should have a waterproof covering before they are positioned into the wall recess and covered up/tiled over. I'm unsure what sort of covering...

    Leaking stopcock - help!

Water company told me that the external stopcock serves the entire row of houses along here, so I figured freezing the pipe would be a more considerate option. I suppose I could replace the stopcock, but I was hoping for a quicker option just to keep things running smoothly for a few weeks...

    Leaking stopcock - help!

I moved into a new house a few days ago and since turning on the internal mains stopcock I have noticed a leak coming from both the gland nut and further down the base. I managed to stop the gland nut leak by packing it with PTFE and tightening it, but since I've done this, the leak at the base...
