What's gone wrong with my new window???

Good afternoon, I recently (ie. a few days ago) had some new PVCu windows installed by a company who appeared to have all the correct credentials and testiominals. I got up this morning and to my horror one of the windows had developed a series of huge cracks on the inside glass pane...

    Vaillant combi problem

My boiler keep failing, the light flashes which (according to the manual) means there is not enough water supply. The needle confirms there is enough, its somewhere between 1.5 and 2. The only way I can get it working is to reset the whole thing. Any ideas what is causing this?

    What a load of rubbish?

Well, he didnt take the rubbish so now we're lumbered with it. As pointed out before, we should have discussed this with him at the start. Live and learn, I suppose! To cap off another wonderful start to the week, our building inspector has told us we need to install an extractor fan in the...

    What a load of rubbish?

Can I just get opinions on something please? Our plumber is just coming to the end of a fairly large piece of work at our house which has included uninstalling old bathroom downstairs, installing new bathroom upstairs, installing new combi boiler in loft, removing old hot water cylinder, tank...

    plumbing advice

I'm no expert Paddy1, but working on the cost of work I've recently had done, your cost does sound a bit pricy. Was there some re-tiling or re-plastering involved too? As someone on this board is bound to point out though, it is difficult to give a reliable estimate without seeing the job...

    Installing a dishwasher: basic question?

Hi, Whilst attempting to install a dishwasher that I aquired last night, I had some problems fitting the cold water feed. I used a plastic Y-socket adapter that I was given so I can share the supply with the washing machine. However when I turned the valve back on, water came gushing...

    Ball park figure

Good morning, Just want to get a feel for how much hassle/cost a job is going to cost. I have a rear single-storey extension which currently has both my kitchen and bathroom. I'm moving the bathroom upstairs to make a bigger kitchen. I will subsequently have more space along the back wall...

    Lighting in new bathroom

Good morning and thanks for the tips. The socket is on the ring circuit. I was thinking about it a bit more last night (as you do) and I think I'm going to relocate it on the adjoining wall behind in the landing area. That way I remove the socket from the bathroom but keep a useful socket...

    Lighting in new bathroom

I have lodged a building notification because of the altertation to the soil stack, etc. The inspector hasnt come around yet but I would expect him to now point out some of the issues you have raised!? I'm inclined to go with the pull switch. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to pull the cable...

    Lighting in new bathroom

A bit of early advice required please! We are in the process of having our bathroom moved from downstairs into a bedroom upstairs. To cut down on cost we are planning on doing the tiling and other finishes ourselves. Which leads me to my question... Because the room was previously used...

Is it okay to put a combi boiler in the loft?

The boiler that the plumber is talking about putting in the loft is a Vaillant (PRO28?). Does anyone know if that model have a frost stat on it?

Is it okay to put a combi boiler in the loft?

Thanks for this. The best quote I have to move the bathroom upstairs (install only) and supply/fit new combi boiler, with a frost stat, in the loft is £3,500. On the face of it, this seems quite reasonable, don't y'think?

Is it okay to put a combi boiler in the loft?

I'm in the process of getting quotes to move my bathroom from downstairs into our smallest bedroom upstairs. We currently have a back boiler system with a hot water tank (basic gravity fed system) sitting in a slightly elevated position in the loft. In terms of water pressure, the lack of pump...
