OK It's the 1901 - sorry I assumed that might be a part number since the others are named "Art Deco" etc. So is it reasonable to replace the cartridge and expect the problems to be fixed or might it be something else?

Yeah the central part looks much the same although the riser bar / shower head is completely different to ours. What I don't know is whether the cartridges are all the same of if there's small model differences despite the fact they look similar.
