    edz flashing with ashmore tiles

Hi - same person as karenandoz here - had to rejoin under different name. Any way thanks for your response - yep you were right EDP not the right kit, as overlap of tiles too small for soakers to work (plain tiles have a much greater overlap). Phoned Velux back, and they said EDZ definitely...

    paddling pool in oversite

thanks for speedy response! Unfortunately dpm lapped up walls and overlapped with dpc as building regs required - so cant knock a hole without ripping through dpm! Any other ideas without having to buy (rent wud end up being too long term and so too pricey) a puddle sucker?

    paddling pool in oversite

Hi all - at risk of sounding like a daft female... I am currently building a kitchen extension, and are at the stage of 8 courses above dpc. Concrete slab over dpm in, and waiting to lay final screed over cellotex 'til the end of the build. Problem is the oversite level sitting 4" below dpc...

cellotex insulation around edge of floor?

At the risk of sounding thick (and working from my knowledge of roof insulation and the need to prevent rafters transferring the cold), if the walls are fully insulated, how are they creating a cold bridge?

cellotex insulation around edge of floor?

Sorry - to clarify, there is going to be 75mm cellotex over the concrete slab, which this cellotex 'rim' will sit on before the whole lot is screeded. Oh and while i'm here, if the polythene between cement slab and cellotex is to do with a reation between cement and foil cover, then why do they...

cellotex insulation around edge of floor?

Hi all Can any of you wise ones advise on this... Our building inspector is saying he wants to see a 25mm strip of cellotex around the edge of our new extension floor, against the internal wall, over the concrete slab, which the 75mm screed will come up to and then cover. We can't...

chimney breast plaster smells of wood smoke

hi! funny you should say that-the previous owners had had a fire - chimney was split at the very top, so we had it taken right down to roof level and rebuilt. If we've got a liner - do you think we got a serious problem that needs sorting, or can we live with it as long as we refrain from...

chimney breast plaster smells of wood smoke

Thanks again - dont want to come across as ungrateful for your help, but just to double check before we go down this road, the plaster has no hairline cracks at all - it is in really good nick, and as smell only starts partway up wall, it wouldn't suggest that smoke is escaping unseen between...

chimney breast plaster smells of wood smoke

chimney breast plaster smells of wood smoke

Hi! In the process of redecorating our bedroom, and have noticed that our lined chimney breast above the open fire in our 1950's house smells of smoke. It's not filling the room or anything terrible, it just smells when you get in close proximity to the plaster from about a third of the way up...

    levelling toilet over tiled surface

hi - have a brand new toilet, waiting to be installed over a newly tiled floor. Problem is toilet has been cast a bit wonky :? ! As a result we need to pack up the right hand side of the pan to bring it up to level by about 5-10mm - what would anyone advise to use? Reluctant to use sand...

    Consistancy of powdered adhesive

we've found the cold temperature at the mo delayed our grout from setting as fast as it should. A heater in the room made a huge difference (as theres no central heating in the area yet)
